If you can solder, try checking all the boards for poor solder connections. Resolder any that appear grainy or have rings. If that fails to resolve the problem, then we will have to start looking for failing capacitors in the power supply area.

Please note that there are potentially dangerous high voltages inside the set even when unplugged.

What would cause my vehicle to make a whining noise when you let off of the gas

Two things to eliminate would be power steering fluid. If the fluid is low then fill it up and should be fine. If it is low though your power steering pump may be going out. The second thing to check would be your water pump. This if more likely to squeal when you start it in the morning but could be when you decelerate as well.

Short time belt squeal

the squeal on a belt when the engine is started is a indication that it is loose and slipping

it needs to be tighten or at least changed, sometimes people squirt a little oil on it to lubricate it so it stops making that noise but it wont stop until tightened or changed

Can't find the source of the squeal

Year make and model ??
The belt could be glazed and slipping even if it is tight.
You could have a weak belt tensioner too.
The noise when the ac or heat is turned on can be the extra load from the ac compressor or the alternator. The compressor cycles on and off especially in defrost mode.
The load from the alternator is the first noise of the day. As the belt warms up it becomes better at handling the load of the accessories.
Even tho the belt looks fine, you may have to replace it to get rid of the noise.

When driving or starting the car i notice when using the brakes it makes a squeaking noise - not all the time think its possibly damp causing it as it was raining yesterday and it happened but no rain...

To address your first problem squeaking brakes aka "brake squeal", is most often casued by one or 2 things: "Pad vibration" or a "low brake warning sensor".

Pad vibation is usually caused by ineffective pad anti-rattling clips & hardware that allow the pads to vibrate at a super fast speed whenever the brakes are applied, thus causing a high pitch brake squeal. To correct this, replace all the pad hardware and anti-rattling clips and make sure you use a quality pad set that has anti-rattling plates attached to the backs of them. Weather conditions do affect brake squeal, that is why it seems to be worse at times.

Low brake warning sensor squeal occurs when your brake pads reach the point of replacement, the sensor attached to the pads scrapes on the rotor which produces a high pitch squealing sound to warn you it's time for new pads.

As far as your second problem goes (a knocking sound), I'll need more information about the problem before I can offer a possible cause (eg. happens on left or right turns, while going over bumps, at high or low speeds, accellerating...).

I also have an 04 Sorento and LOVE it. I live in northern indiana where it is super cold in the winters and just this year my truck started squealing when temps got low and when the heat is on. My dad has also changed the belts, even though they looked fine. that didn't fix the problem. I was searchng for some answers and it seems that many people are having this same issue with sorentos. Its super annoying and like you sid embarassing! I love my truck, but HATE this sound! if you find anything else out, please post! Thanks!

My car has started to squeal when turning the wheel to the left or the right. It only does this when I turn it hard to either side. I only hear this noise when I am going through a parking lot slow.

Many times a serpentine belt will get hard and glazed. When you are turning it takes more friction to turn the power steering pump and the belt will slip causing a squeal sound.

Check the belt. If it has a lot of little cracks in the ribs, replace it. If it looks good try belt dressing. If it still makes the noise you may have to replace the tensioner that holds the belt tight. Not a big deal to do it only has one bolt that holds it on.

Hope this helps

2005 Honda civic: when the AC is on water leaks to the passenger side floor and a squeal noise is heard when the car makes a hard left turn.

The squeal, first:
Noises are difficult to diagnose without hearing them in person. There are too many potential causes; maybe the power steering pump (turning the wheel to lock causes this), maybe tires, maybe a cv joint.
The A/C water is condensation that occurs because of the cold. This is perfectly natural and is a sign of a very cold-blowing A/C unit.
