Question about Kenwood KDC-X817 CD Player
A couple of days ago my kenwood KDC-x817 car stereo went on the fritz. It began to tilt open as if to insert or eject a CD, but it wont accept
a disc and won't return to normal position. It does this automatically without any action on my part. When I remove the face plate the carrier/
docking plate tilts back to normal operating postion. When I reinstall the
face plate 5-10 seconds later it tilts to cd insert postion but won't accept a disc.
When the problem first started the faceplate would light up and the reset button worked. The stereo would work until I shut the car off.
Upon restarting the car I have to reset again. Now nothing happens when I press the reset.
It's old enough that this model is no longer sold. I have found a couple
of new/used faceplates online. Is the problem likely to be the faceplate
or something in the main part of the unit?
