Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

Dead ipod 18 months old

My 18 month old ipod nano is as dead as a dodo - it worked fine this morning, no water damage (I checked the pink thing in the headphone jack) but now the computer won't recognise it, the docking station doesn't recognise it and it won't reset, turn on or do anything - any ideas ?

Hi, Lets try 1 more step.!!!!!!!!!!

Try connecting ur ipod to ur computer..If desktop, then conenct it to USB port at the rear of ur computer....Make sure ur computer is not set to sleep mode or screen saver mode... Charge it for at least 4 to 8 hrs(without a break)... Then try reseting the ipod when it is connected....

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Let me know the status????

I plugged it in my computer, and it went dead

There are a lot of viruses going around iTunes right now. By contacting Apple, you may be able to get a replacement if you're under warranty.

I washed my Ipod

Apple won't cover any kind of accidental damage and they will be able to tell that it was water damage if you send it in. The only thing really you can attempt is to put it in a bowl of DRY rice for 24 hours. Sometimes this will pull enough of the liquid out of the internal components. Good luck I learned that trick while working as an apple tech rep and have used the rice trick once on a cell phone and the phone works to this day

WILL NOT TURN ON

Your ipod may be frozen. If so, hold the menu button and the center button below it. If this still doesnt work try connecting it to a computer and then disconnecting it.

"I figured it out with the help of other peoples problems. I pressed the menue and middle button at the same time for about 8 seconds until the apple came up. It took doing it three times. Works just fine now!"
