Question about Compaq Presario Laptop
I have a desktop compaq presario amd Athlon 64 3500+, the d drive has only 6% free, and I'm thinking that is what is making it so slow. I want to see if there is anything on it that I can remove, but it won't open, just says that's where operating system (xp) is, and it's not safe to look at. Any suggestions?
The D drive on a Compaq computer is the recovery partition. This is used if your C drive gets corrupted. That's why it says the it should not be opened.
The C drive is where you should look to see if you can remove un-used and un-wanted programs. Always use Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel to remove programs.
You can check the free space on the C drive by oprning My Computer, right click on the C drive icon. In the middle you will see a pie chart with blue and pink . And above that you can see how much free space is left on the drive.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

It should allow you to ignore the warning and look at it anyway... even though "it's not safe". Shhhhh, we wont tell Bill Gates we looked at it. Anyway, if it wont let you in no matter what, there's a couple of different ways to get in there. If you have another PC, you can remove the hard drive from the Presario and plug it in as a secondary or "slave" drive to the good PC's 'master" hard drive. Another solution would be to buy a USB external hard drive enclosure, and plug the hard drive into the enclosure, then add it to the other PC as an external USB drive. Either way, you'll be able to look at the contents of the drive and delete all the old **** you no longer need. Be careful not to delete anythink you're not sure of. You don't want to delete critical operating system or program files. One last thing. If you filled this drive, you may want to consider this a good time to upgrade to a bigger drive. If I've helped you, please consider rating me to boost my ratings. Thank you.
