Try to use a LiveCD like PCLInuxOS to start your computer.

If the LiveCD works you can install the OS from it.

Sometimes you have to change the boot order in the start screen or in BIOS to use the CD or DVD drive.

I losted my operation system, so I installed a windwon 7, now I want get my old opreation system back which is homevista, cani get it bac now?

When you first bought your PC or laptop, you would have been prompted by Windows Vista to create recovery discs, either CD or DVD. If you did this and still have the discs then you can simply put the recover disc into your DVD drive and re-boot the PC from the DVD drive (you may need to change the boot options in the BIOS or via a function key at boot-up).
If you did not create any recovery discs then there is a small possibility that there is a recovery partition on the hard drive. During boot-up, look at the text on the screen that tells you which button to press to get into the BIOS setup utility. There may be an option to start the recovery process, which would access the recovery partition.
If you have not got the recovery discs or a recovery partition then you will need a Windows Vista Home installation disc. The product key should be on a label on your PC or laptop.

My pc wont hdd recovery.....plz help

If your hdd recovery won't work it may be that you don't have a recovery partition. If it is a new computer it should have one. If not you might have to order your recovery disks from the computer manufacturer for about 25 dollars. go to their website to order, hp, dell, sony, etc...

The other option would be to reformat the hdd and reinstall the operating system and programs from scratch. The operating system cd should be bootable and allow for that provided that you setup your computer to boot from the cd in the setup screen.

I cannot boot from windows xp - pc worked ok yesterday. forced it by deisabling auto restart - now have blue screen with error code 0x00000024...... what can I do?

Hi there and welcome at Fixya, the support team (lfete)

If you have the windows setup cd, try first to run "chkdsk" command at the computer: put the setup cd in the computer and check the boot options to be first at the cd/dvd player- reboot the computer and when the wizard start press R for repair, choose the operating system, normally C:\ windows, enter the password and then enter chkdsk and return (note some times you have to enter chkdsk/R or /P) and let the program run through, When it is done (it can take a hour or more) then take the setup cd out and reboot the computer again. That´s it :O)

Still Not Running? Than start the computer and press F8 and the choose "the last known and running configuration"

If the computer still not running, you can try to use System Restore in Safe Mode (pressing F8 at the start of the computer) and roll the computer back to a date where your computer was running fine .o) You simply log in your account and the go to START- All Programs- Accessories- System Accesories-- System Restore AND follow the Wizard

Still not running, you can use the feature repair with the windows setup cd (that means you are going to reinstall only the windows system, but the programs and the documents etc are remaining on the hard drive). FOR DOING THAT you have to reboot the computer with the windows setup cd and choose "install" at the first screen that prompt and THEN choose "Repair" in the wizard. When it is finish you have to install all the extra updates for windows.
REMEMBER: for this method you have to have the product code for windows (the serial) ready because the wizard ask you for it.

Hope it helps
IF NOT then try to return here

Have a nice time over there

Page file

Computers use the RAM of the computer to store the active programs, and perform other operating system functions. Obviously, there is a limit to how much RAM is available for this function. This is why Windows runs faster with more RAM installed.

Since Windows allows you to open multiple programs and switch between them, it is more efficient to "swap" inactive programs or parts of programs out of RAM, so a special disk files is created - "pagefile.sys".

Pagefile.sys is related to the "Virtual Memory" function of Windows.

You can see the pagefile setup by right clicking on My Computer, the go to Properties/Advanced/Performance/Advanced.
