Question about Grills & Smokers

Gas grill ignitor no longer ignites burners

I have a Char Broil model 463241004. The ignitor no longer ignites even after replacing the battery. I do not hear the 'click, click' of the individual ignitors when holding in the ignitor button.

Is there a way to determine which of the items in the ignitor system is bad? The main switch is a RichTek ZT-XJ4-4 (this is the original unit used in the grill for the Char Broil part number 80000690).. Can this item be easily tested?

I cannot get my Char Broil Performance Series Grill to ignitie. Someone said the igniter is operated by battery but I cannot find a battery to replace. Also, on the two occasions I lit the grill manually (with matches) it did not heat sufficiently to cook at all. Can someone help me?

I had to change the burner but now the igniter will not automatically ignite when pressing the button. What should I do?

The piezo ignitor head my need to be adjusted so that it is closer to the burner. If it is not sparking at all, check for a loose wire at the piezo ignitor and trace it back to the ignition button. Often times, it will simply lost it's ground. To resolve this, carefully pull the ignitor wire off the piezo pin and the push it back on. Do the same thing on the back of ignitor button.

If none of the above solves the problem, it's time to replace the ignition systems. The parts are inexpensive and can be purchased on-line directly from Char-Broil http://www.charbroil.com/Store/ReplacementParts.aspx or from any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. These will be universal fit model ignitors .

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Need to know where to connect igniter button to where side burner is still connected not main burners

According to your Owners Manual, the side burner uses the same electronic ignitor as the main burners. I know that sounds odd, but that's what Charbroil often does with their igrills.

To help you with further insight and in case you've misplaced your Owners/Assembly Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference, if you like.

Here is a link to the Owners Manual for your model grill. It has the assembly instructions, so just reverse what they are and you'll be in business. As they say, "one picture is worth a thousand words."

Does the patio caddie use any kind of charcoal or lava rock

Your model Char-Broil LP Gas Grill use Lava Briquets on the lower grate above the burner(s). Any generic type will work. Just space them in evenly on the grate in one layer. You'll probably have some left over. So store them in an airtight container for future use (replacement).

How do i remove the battery on my char broil ignitor? thanks

This is kind of tough to explain without pictures, but here goes:

You may be able to just look on the underside of the ignitor and replace it or them without removal.

If not, behind the ignitor, on the other side of the panel it is mounted on, there is a round threaded part that holds the ignitor in place. You can (hopefully) use your fingers and just lefty-loosy that part off, releasing the ignitor. It will come out the front side of the plate it's mounted to easily, and you will see where the battery is located. Replace, and then just screw that threaded part back on tightly.

Hope this helps.
