Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop

1 Answer

OK The only thing I can access is on the screen that first comes up and that's the acer screen. At the bottom left has press F2 enter setup. I press F2. Information, Main, Security, Boot, and Exit appear. I can look through them. When I press F5 at the acer startup screen, it gives me an option to choose my OS or do a memory check. I can do a memory check. When I click on OS it does not enter safe mode. It shuts off and on over and over. I Can't use the dvd drive either. I was told my hard drive may be corrupt or failed. I don't understand how. It was working fine yesterday and a blue window popped up saying windows has shut down to prevent system damage. Also, a computer check revealed my OS is not found. Anymore advice as what is going on and how to fix it. I can fix a desktop inside out, but not a laptop. Thanks.

Yep, sounds like a crashed / crashing hard drive. Why can't you use the cd / dvd drive? Does it not work? You're gonna need some kind of boot up cd to start troubleshooting that laptop. XP is usually my choice.

HOW to tget to bios acer aspire AST180-ED400A

Immediately after pressing the power up button, start repeatedly pressing F2 while the Acer logo is displaying. The Bios setup screen should appear. If you press F2 too soon, the keyboard may not have initialized yet. If you press it too late, Windows will proceed to launch. Press it once, wait a second, press, it again, wait another second, and repeat this while the Acer logo is displaying until you see the bios setup screen.

This is standard approach with most Acers. That said, some laptops may defer to either Ff being the key to press or CTRL+ALT+EXC. Such would be entered as the above mentioned F2. Your Aspire appears to be a desktop and I suspect F2 will suffice.

What is the boot up sequence please

You need to go inside BIOS to find out whats the boot sequence. To activate the BIOS Utility, press F2 during POST (when “Press <F2> to enter Setup” message is prompted on the bottom of screen).
Press F2 to enter setup. The default parameter of F12 Boot Menu is set to “disabled”. If you want to change boot device without entering BIOS Setup Utility, please set the parameter to “enabled”.
Press <F12> during POST to enter multi-boot menu. In this menu, user can change boot device without entering BIOS SETUP Utility. Navigate to BOOT page on top.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

ok..enter to the bios setup and then find "load bios setup default" and then save and restart the system.

If won't help then, verify if the hard drive is detected..if don't know how to detect hard drive, go to bios set up and find hard disk if detected. if not hard disk found then ..consult your vendor for immediate support.

Acer 3003lci will not boot up.

sounds like locking up on boot, hence why nothing happens when you hit F2, try tapping F2 as soon as you push power button, if still hanging, you may need to take it to get looked at, could be a number of things causing it to lock up
