Pcb is a distinct possibility but would check loom from board to motor as i have found many broken wires on wma series.
Hope this helps & thankyou for using Fixya.

Hotpoint 1200 wd62n banging noise when loaded but ok when its empty ?

There are many reasons that this could be noisy...

When you turn the drum (quickly) when it's empty does it rumble? Bearings, drum support or motor bearings.

If it sounds like a pneumatic drill when filled and spinning it could be drum support, bearings, balance weight or suspension.

These are not an exhaustive list but the usual suspects.

Drum not turning of my washing machine

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

A number of possibilities, I'm afraid. Control PCB, wiring, motor, belt but I would suspect the belt first as it's the cheapest ;-0)

Belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!

If it turns out to be the motor, it is false economy to just have the brushes changed although financially very attractive. Experience of others is that the brushes may only last months unless, that is, the motor is totally refurbished at the same time. It depends on how old the motor is and how much wear the commutator has had.

Hope the belt is your problem and solved.
Good luck,
John C

Drum stops turning. If I turn off power and move drum it works for a little while then stops again

I would advise you to remove the motor, and check the brushes in the motor for wear.
If less than 3 or 4mm long, then replace them.
Failing that, then problem could be related to control board or the motor itself, but I would think it is more likely to be worn brushes.

Have WD63 WASHER/DRYER & the drum stopped turning. motor ok & drum turns easily when turned manually.

Could be the carbon brushes on the motor. They're usually quite cheap and easy to replace. In this area you can expect to see a lot of carbon dust (black). The brushes themselves should protrude from the case by around 4-6mm.

Could also be a loose connection between the power feed and the motor.
Will it pump? Some machines die completely when the pump fails.

I AM NOT A MECHANIC, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR MOTOR COUPLING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

Drum not turning

If you are certain that the motor was turning, then the only things that come to mind are that:
  1. The belt is stretched or worn-Replace as there is no adjustment.
  2. The drum is stalled, either because it has seized, or there is something stuck in the drum.
  3. The motor brushes are worn, and will not cope with load of drum, check brushes.
Try running it on fast spin without the belt on , if it spins o/k, then that would indicate the motor is o/k.
Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint WMA34 Where to find the motor to change the brushes

DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG THE POWER FIRST!
Remove the lid and the motor is sat to one side on top of the drum.

yes easy to change there are 2 of them look for a single wire going to each side of your motor when u find each wire u have found were your carbon brushes are right you will need a pair of bent nose pliers place the ends either side of the plastic casing if the carbon brushes squeeze and pull the first brush should pull out take wire of now the 2 brush you wont be able to see but its directly across from the first 1 do exact same to take that 1 out now before replacing the new brushes there a small slot running down 1 side of the plastic at the end you will see a small metal bar push this up which will release the carbon now you can fit them
