Purchased the above new Freesat TV (which is visually great by the way) and had barely used it for a week when it decided to give up the ghost!!

    This is what happened :

I powered the TV off using the remote, remebered i needed to change something on Sky+, and so powered it back on again (once again with the remote) about 5 seconds later. All i got was 7 red blinks from the power LED on the front, a short pause, then the 7 blinks again....etc. This just continued in a cycle.

I then unplugged it from the mains, waited over night, powered it on from the front using the power button. The power LED then flashed green rapidly (for about 2 secs), made a clicking noise and then went back to the 7 red flashes, pause, 7 red flashes.............etc on a loop.

I have since googled this and it looks like its a power board/circuit problem that will need a qualified technician call-out to resolve!!

Not happy after spending over £1250 on a product that i thought would be reliable.

Purchased it from John Lewis, so will take it up with them and keep you posted.

Had to post this thread to make people aware of a potential issue here, which hopefully only affects a small batch of these TVs'.

The problem / symptom you are facing is a protection mechanism when a fault is detected the tv goes into protection mode and displays a error message in this case 7 blinks.

First I would suggest to check your warranty
2nd, you will need a service manual which includes the list of codes and explanations of them.

I have to warn you, its not recommended attempting to fix a tv at home. Do you have previous experience?

what is the brand and model of your television and I'll see if you a service manual is available.

Yellow blinking light . what does it mean

A blinking yellow for this model indicates the TV is too hot, unplug & allow 30-45 min to cool before re-plugging .

LED Indications

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of

the set's operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.

If an abnormal condition is indicated, perform the

Self Diagnostics procedure.

Self Diagnostics

To activate, press the front panel <ACTIVITY> &<CH

??> buttons at the same time and hold for 5 seconds.

The STATUS LED will then flash denoting a two digit

code.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the

MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2

second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the

(ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED

will flash two times, pause, and then flash three

times.

Table 2-2: LED Indications

Error Codes, descriiptions and the most likely cause of

the error are listed in Table 2-3.

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down." The LED

will probably be indicating an abnormal

condition. If the TV is switched Off, AC is

removed, or a System Reset is performed, the

code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

See the Error Code Log to retrieve a history of

errors.

Note: Use the front panel buttons, not the remote

control.

Note: If there is no response, the front panel may be

locked by a V-Chip setting. To unlock, press

and hold <ACTIVITY> on the front panel for

8 seconds.

Panasonic faults

These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Philips 42PF7220A/37 42'' TV (LED flashes red 7 times)

Five buck solution; If you have any tek skills at all and are feeling adventurous; UNPLUG THE POWER, remove the back panel; You will be faced with the mainboard. In the lower right quadrant you will see two small capacitors, like tiny yellowish coke cans. If these are bulging, there lies your problem. These must be replaced. If you have no soldering skills, take only the mainboard to a fixit shop and have them solder in the two capacitors easily found on line. No guarantee's but worth a try

TV does not turn on/red led flashes 7 times in front

this is common issue with this model and through your troubleshooting is tied to y main board. blinking led on logic main in normal operation. when replacing y main always good idea to replace y upper and lowe buffer boards as they complete a circuit and sometimes replacing one without other could cause additional failure on remaining boards

LG LCD TV Standby Light Flashing Red Continuously

I have had this same problem twice in the past 3 months. So far both times I've been able to get it back after a week or two. I'm not sure what works, but unplugging and detaching the antenna and cable and waiting a few days seems to be the key. In both instances, I unplugged it for a few days then plugged it in for a few days and repeated the processes until I eventually got the steady red led. Both times prior to the red led the led would flash red then green and make a clickiing noise for several hours before I was able to get it working again.
