Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

I have been having a problem with my Miele W1213 washer since the first year it was purchased (5-05). Intermittently, I will find that the load has not spun properly and the clothing is still soaking wet. I reported the problem when it first happened (12-05), but they never sent anyone out to solve the problem. The only way to spin the clothes is to run a complete 58 minute cycle. I noticed that it seemed to happen most after a load of towels, however it has happened when washing a load on the both the wrinkle-free and woolen cycles. Last year a new problem popped up. I had a load that did not spin properly and, when I set the next cycle all the cycle parameters had changed. I called support and found that the country code had been changed. We corrected the code problem over the phone. This happened again after Thanksgiving and now all the times are wrong and the cycle parameters are different. I just kept using the washer because it seemed to be working fine other than the incorrect times. Or so I thought. Yesterday I was washing cleaning towels on a hot cycle. I opened the washer to add a towel I forgot and noticed the water was ice cold. Today I tried the sanitizing cycle and found the water was also ice cold. I assume that the machine has been running only cold water cycles for the last 3 months. Is there a way to reset all the parameters back to default? I can get into programming mode just fine. It seems like there is an intermittent glitch in the washer's circuit board that screws up the codes. I also assume that replacing this would be expensive and should have been done while it was under warranty. I would just like to be able to reset the codes when it happens.

This doesn't seem to be the issue, as I don't overload the machine and it only happens intermittently using the same towels. I pretty much wash a couple of bath towels with 4 hand towels and the load is not close to the top. Sometimes I'll wash some beach towels, which are larger, but I've never had it happen with those loads. The main issue is that the cycle times and temps are all incorrect and need to be reset.

I went to the site and used the info to navigate into the service mode. The first thing that came up is F1, which is NTC temperature sensor short-circuited. I could see how this would affect my water temp, but it doesn't explain the time changes. Usually the normal cycle says 58 minutes. It now displays 1:05. Also the cycle parameters like temp and spin speed are different. I don't know if the country code changed like last time. I don't know what the codes mean past F. I'm in the "U" mode now, but I don't want to push anything that will cause bad changes. Is there a file that displays the rest of the codes and how they should be set for the US? I wish there was a reset button!

I cycled through all the "U" settings and everything seems to be working correctly. However, there is no hot water entering any of the dispensers and the cloth I left inside the machine had cold water on it at the end of the test.

Everything is back to normal. I went through all the programming steps one by one and fixed the couple that were not correct. All the times and temps are back and I have hot water again. Thanks so much for your help! I knew I didn't really need a service call.

This kind of issue is usually by a extremely out of balance load, like towels, the machine never reaches proper spin speed, be very careful about how u load the towels or other heavy fabric clothes, don't overload, 6 towels is about it for most washers without a slow spin dry issue.

Miele W1213 intake, drain and 3 - - - faults

Have had this since 2007 or 2008. Pain in the backside.
Fixed it by:
Cleaning drain.
Unplugging from power.
Tilting forward to drain water for 1-2 mins.
Made sure that the clear plastic light ***** in the rubber opening which located at the top was tight as it tends to get loose if you have an off-balance load.
Plugged power back in.
Boom, she started up.

This is a great washer/dryer, but it's expensive to fix if you need a repairman and it's a bit of voodoo if you need to do the above.

Miele washer leaking from soap tray (on rinse cycle). Can't figure out what's the problem. Please help.

Remove and clean fully soap tray. if persists could be machine leveling or water pressure too high going in so fast to tray that its unable to cope, in which case try reducing the water pressure. good luck
