I used my Haier tv on cable service. I moved to rural area where there is no cable service. I tried to use my tv on an HD antenna, cannot get a signal. ???

You gotta try to reprogram your channels, but first you must have an external antenna to receive the signal. Follow your TV manual and set it to automatically reprogram it. It may take a long time since it will try to setup regular (analog), digital and cable channels (analog and digital as well). Depending on how far you are from the TV stations, you may also have to install a signal booster (amplifier) before attempting to reprogramm the channels, so you can get more channels without glitches. If you have internet you can also watch TV over it.

Satellite is another good option. Dish Network or DirectTV are 2 good options for remote areas. I have never had satellite, so I can't precise with one is the best for you.

Televison station won't scan

If you are receiving a "No Signal" error message, verify that:
  1. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input device are secure.
  2. The input device is turned on.
Your TV needs to scan for channels before it can show programming from an antenna, from cable TV when the cable comes directly from the wall (no cable box), or from a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with a coaxial (RF) cable. Do not scan for channels if you have a cable or satellite box connected using AV (Composite), Component, or HDMI cables. The box selects the channel, not the tuner inside your television. If you are not using the "TV" input, press the INPUT button on your remote until the correct input mode is selected.
To perform a channel scan using the coaxial input:
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as "TV," "ANT," or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on-screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:
    • Antenna-over-the air signals from an antenna
    • Cable-direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:
    • Antenna or direct-from-wall cable-Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels.
    • Cable or satellite box- Will return only one channel. Use the cable or satellite remote's Channel Up and Channel Down buttons.
If this does not resolve the issue, power cycle the TV and then re-run the channel scan:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Turn on the TV.
Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on-screen menu. The option may be "Reset all settings", "System Reset," or "Reset & Admin." Consult your TV's user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
  1. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
  2. Re-attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.
This video shows troubleshooting steps to use when a "No signal" message appears.

My RCA L32HD41TV will not work with HDMI cable. What's the problem?

If the set is used on a specific channel on the set--no signal means either a tuner or hookup problem.

If Direct tv has rear audio video outputs connect it that way.

Not clear here how or where you are connected with the box.

What channel or setting is used on the TV to play a DVD?

Hi, Channel 3 or 4 might work for older TVs. Most new HDTV's have a mode setting in the menu. (Video 1 or 2 or 3) or (Component 1 or 2). On your remote you may have DVD button. Try all these suggestions, 1 of these will work. You can play with the remote too. Good luck.

I am trying to hook up my cable box so i can watch tv.

At the cable box input, connect the cable (probably labeled "Cable In" or "Signal In").

Depending on the cable box model and available inputs on your TV, connect one of the following (listed in descending order of video quality). Colored phono plugs must match the colors of the plugs on each end.:

  • HDMI (a single rectangular connector at each end - sometimes you need to connect the Audio separately with a two - line cable with red and white phono plugs).
  • YPbBr, AKA Component (Cable with Red, Blue and Green phono plugs, plus a separate Red and White cable set for Audio).
  • S-video (a single round connector and separate Red and White audio cables).
  • Composite (Yellow video cable plus Red and White audio cables, usually sold as a single set).
  • RF out on the cable box connects to ANT or Cable In on the TV with a coax cable.
The various options are always grouped in some manner on both the Cable box and the TV. On the TV, note which input set you use, for example, "Component 1". This is the input you will select to watch whatever channel you select on the cable box.

An unused output on the cable box can go to a video recorder. Some cable boxes may permit setting up two different channels for this purpose; others will only put out the signal from one channel at a time on all outputs.

You may, if you prefer, connect the audio cable from the cable box to a stereo receiver instead of the TV. Usually people connect the audio to the TV, then connect another audio cable from "Audio Out" or "Monitor Out" on the TV to the stereo receiver. That way the sound is from whatever video source is currently selected, and the TV remote control can be used to set the volume. TV sets with this option usually have a setting to turn off the internal speakers so you hear only the external stereo speakers.

I get cable tv and it works fine. How do I hool up a vcr and do i have to put the tv on a certain channell for it to play . Cannot read the manual, the printing is to small.

No, the VCR hooks up Via the, sockets, Yellow, Video, and the White & Red Audio, connections, color to color. Then you select an EXTERNAL input. You do NOT "Tune" a "Channel" for this to work. It gets the signal via the Audio Visual port, usually at the side, front or rear. Also some sets can use SVHS connector. This is a small round multi pinned socket on the set, this too is an External, called composite Video. input.

Trying to hookup vhs analog player to hd proscan

your toshiba player should have output composite video and audio which are color coded Yellow for video, red and white for audio same goes for proscan hdtv. connect between the two keeping in mind color of cables. If the toshiba player is really old you can connect the RF cable output to antenna input to the proscan tv and watch taped programs from the player on channel 3 of the proscan tv. If then you want to keep the hookup and still watch HDTV connect the antenna to the toshiba vcr and when you shut off the vcr you can now watch the hdtv channels as usual because now you are bypassing the antenna to the Proscan tv. Hope this Helps..

I am trying to hookup a RCA l32hd31 to my stereo receiver and it is not working I see it has only 1 audio out which says use a audio coaxial cable which i have tried and do not get any sound what am I...

when it specifies 'audio coaxial cable', you need to make sure that is what it is your using and that it is specified on the package. Any other cable will not most of the time work for your needs cause it was not made for that. Cables may look the same, but carry different functions. TV cable will not work as an audio or video coaxial support that you need. Video 1 may work, if you have 'S-Video', try that jack outlet as well. Hope this helped.

Distorted Picture

I don't think that the cable is your problem. Set may have a defective tuner or small signal board. (Tuner is soldered onto the small signal board).

Most likely fix is to find and replace the small signal board with tuner. Should be able to find one for less than $200.

Another thing to try is your video inputs. Use external devices such as a DVD play hooked you using proper video lines and check you inputs. Are they doing the same thing as your cable? If not, then it maybe just a tuner. Some makes and models won't allow you to solder in a new tuner without a full board replacement, but this however may allow you to hookup a VCR with a tuner built in and from VCR to your TV using video input jacks and then programming the VCR tuner to all your cable channels may get your set watchable again without having to tare it apart and replacing a board. However if your input jacks are distorting like the cable channels are, then a small signal board replacement is a must for your set.

Good luck!

Connecting Sony PS2 to Panasonic HT32LZD85

First off you need to retire that ps2 and join the PS3 revolution, well worth the money although with the recent drop of the inferior x-box 360 the PS3 may follow suit shortly.

Now, I'm gathering from your discription limited as it may be that you had an adapter that connected the the stock cable that was included with your ps2 which consists of the end that interfaces with the ps2 and the end that is ment to provide the signal to your tv which includes your composite video (yellow) and your left and right audio (red&white).

If this is case then it should be a simple matter of removing the adapter that changed the source (ps2) signal to aerial and pluging the yellow red and white cables direct to your tv (standard imputs at the rear of the television should be video 1,2,3 ect.

Then just make sure your tv is on and set to the correct imput and you should be rockin and rolling in no time.
