I have a JVC Model AV-32F485 Tube TV. The picture has become distorted. It is now too wide and both sides are slightly cut off. I dont know if the kids played with it or what but I cannot fix it with the menu options avaiable to me. Is there a factory reset? Could it be something internal? If it is internal can I fix it myself and how? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Lon Brewster

You didn't mention if you saw fine white diagonal lines running through the screen from top to bottom. If so, you likely have a shorted Picture Tube which is not usually fixable. If there are no lines seen running through the screen, then it is possible the High voltage transformer which also has a screen voltage and focus control built in that could be bad. I would expect the cost of that part to be about $100, so the repair cost total could approach that of a new set I would guess.

Your TV needs to be calibrated. Rear projection TVs are very sensitive to movement. They have 3 color canons that need to be precisely aligned so that the colors overlay each other. They are like three projectors all aimed at the same screen.
If you were to enter the User Menu on the TV, you should find an alignment/calibration choice that will re-align the colors using some on-screen help.
If you are not able to resolve the situation on your own, a certified ISF Calibrationist should be called.
And, since you've bought this TV used, it should be cleaned by a professional (the canons, lenses, etc.)
