The tv is digital not analog. I receive all the other digital channels. the UHF & VHF is the atenna

  • fitchca Feb 20, 2009

Sorry for the rating. Yes my tv is digital as I get all of the other digital channels. I sent this same type question to the tv station and they suggested "Sometimes re-running the TV's "initial setup" procedure will rescan all available channels and pick up the new ones added since the first time the tv was setup. That should be mentioned in the user manual for your set." I don't remember a initial setup for the TV. Any suggestions??

Again sorry for the rating did not mean to lower your rating.

I have tried that but still the signal goes. The fault occurs after different periods of time and temporary cured by switching off. Looks like electrolytic capacitor failure to me

You need a digital to analog convertor box to recieve the digital signal.

All UHF+VHF signals will be digital starting in June.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated.

If it only happened to only that particular channel - chances are it is the station's problem... and not with your TV.

Check it again in a few days - or try an auxiliary station. ie. if it was channel 20.1 try 20.2 or 20.3.

Also, please reconsider your "Thanks for Trying" rating. Very few experts on FixYa answer "Freebie" questions, and those of us that do spend the time to respond are taking the chance of our ratings going down attempting to answer questions like yours with little to no information.

Here is what i see in your question....

Local channel went digital (assuming the Feb 17 deadline).

You lost signal (again - assuming lost in the digital conversion on the 17th).

You re-scanned (your TV) and still had no station.

You have a VHS/UHF antenna installed (no mention of a Digital TV convertor)

Coby 19" LCD TV (again no mention of HDTV or HD Ready - LCD is not indicative of being HDTV Ready.... my 42" plasma is not HD ready)

I answered the question to the best of my ability with the information you provided. A thanks for trying rating (misworded by fixya in my opinion) has the same effect as an Inappropriate - it lowers my rating by almos a full percentage.

A "Helpful" rating would be appreciated!!

I have a panasonic viera 42 in plasma. It has a built in freeview receiver. It is in the bedroom and receives a signal through a booster from the main sky box. I can get free view channels on it but can't...

switch tv to analogue tv and auto tune on tuning menu making sure sky is on. It should find it around channel 69. If quality poor then change output frequency to a lower channel. You do this with sky menu and instruction book. Info is changing RF output in book, or google it.

I doubt it has a digital tuner but the owner manual should show that or Google the model number.

Can only receive cable channels 2 through 13;

Turn the unit off, push the setup button 3 times. Press the seek left/right to switch between cable / antenna tuner modes. When cable is selected, press the channel up/down to switch between cable modes. When the unit turns back on, it will rescan for channels.

RCA model f32649

Hi, Based on your post/description, it would appear that the TV tuner of the RCA is at fault. Chances are the the VHF Low is not working right but the VHF High is. This is an inshop repair probably requiring component replacement. You may want to confirm by checking your TV's setup in the menu, you should have Cable selected instead of Air or STd and do a Memory + (scan and add channels). If still a no go, then back to the tuner suspect. The VCR will not display any movie since it normally transmits in Channel 3 (which is VHF Low). If there are no other problem with the VCR then you might still be able to use it by connection it to the A/V inputs of the TV. If the VCR works in A/V mode, then perhaps you may want to save the repair expense of the RCA TV and use the tuner of the VCR to watch TV and switch channels. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
