Question about Palm Zire 71 Handheld
I just got the Palm Zire 71 from a co-worker. When they gave it to me they said it needs a new battery. I went home that night to try and turn it on and it brought me to the set-up screen. I went through that and after a little bit the screen went dark and shut off. I purchased a new battery and installed it, after charging it over night I went to take it off of the sync charger and the same thing happened again. After that happened I put it back on the charger and pushed the on button- it turned on but brought me to the set-up menu. I went through that process and moved it a tad bit and the screen went dim and went black. Pushed the sync button to turn it on again and it brought me to the set-up menu again! Does this everytime I turn it on. Am I right in assuming this is not because of the battery? Please help
You are right
there is a component on the main board of your PDA
that is most likely fried
power from the PC chord will go to the PDA
but when you unplug it the machine will look to the battery for power
and the electricity will convert to heat at the point of that fried component
on the more thin Palm models you can feel it without taking the case off
and it will "forget" any new information you input due to the type of memory it uses
