SOURCE: why cant I scroll using the laptop mouse pad

This is often the result of the proper driver for the touchpad not being installed. You can usually find the correct driver by going to the Support & Drivers page of the maker of your particular laptop (ie: dell.com, hp.com, & etc). Usually you need to download and install a Synaptics Touchpad driver; although there are times when Synaptics drivers don't work on a laptop - this being because they didn't make the part or supply the original driver for the laptop touchpad.

Scroll wheel stopped working. It feels weird now when i try to scroll it. How do i fix it?

Disconnect the mouse from the computer and turn it upside down. The screws to disassemble the mouse are under the pads on the bottom of the mouse. When you disassemble the mouse, you will find that the scroll wheel axle is gummed up, and the interruptor wheel is probably dirty. Use an old tooth brush and alcohol to clean the scroll wheel components, and let the components dry. You can use glue to re-attach the pads after you have reassembled the mouse.

HP 2530p EliteBook - touchpad stopped working. Scrolling works except touch scrolling on right side of pad) and right button, but that's all. Wireless mouse works fine.

To access Mouse Properties, select Start - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound -Mouse.

Use Mouse Properties in Windows to customize settings for pointing devices, such as button configuration, click speed, and pointer options.

I have had this problem where the monitor seems to be scrolling the image so fast that it is one big blur. I reloaded win vista from the backup and the problem was still there. One day I happened to tilt...

old DV5-1150us.
vista , vista is good, but not supported, XP is 100x worse..
monitor , you mean the screen, and the Vista mouse is acting wrong. (correct?)
the only word above useful are vista and SCROLLING
not photos posted of the IMAGE on screen wrong.

try a real USB mouse yet, to see if a real mouse works.
that be first. if only SCROLLING FAILS.
this PC can be connected to a real VGA monitors.
see that 15pin jack on the back, if you use a real monitor as test
we can see if the screen internal has problems.

i cant see what you see, and this is like 1000 times more important
a picture is worth a 1000 words. see?
cell phone camera dead? cant send a photo here.
see below here (see icon blue "Photos" one of the most easy forum on earth to post a photo here.....

my guess is your screen is bad.
to prove that attach any disktop screen to VGA Jack.
if the laptop pad is bad, mouse pad use any USB mouse made
plug it in and see if a real mouse works, can be bought for $3 a real mouse on fleabay or borrow one.

I can't use for scrolling up and down from the right side of mouse pad, how to setting it? thx

Sometimes there is a setting, under mouse, in the control panel. But also there is a time based issue, you need to stop while pressing in the scroll area, and the mouse shifts from mousing to scrolling. Duration of time, and first touch to the pad in the scroll area are keys.

Cant get the font to change on a web page that I somehow made smaller

Hello

OK, all you need to do is to hold down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard. While you hold down the key, you need to scroll with your mouse button, If you have an external mouse plugged in, you just need to scroll with the middle mouse button. If you use the mouse pad on the laptop, the left side on the pad is usually the scroll function.

So...Just to be clear. Open your web browser. Hold down the "Ctrl" key on scroll up or down with your scroll function.

Hope this can be of help. Also, please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

How do I turn off the automatic scrolling feature? a mini scroll bar appears on the page and my attempt to move the cursor instead moves the page up and down. Most annoying. I've tried the scroll button...

what OS, XP? operating system? is it?
using only one mouse? the built in mouse pad or it and a plugin mouse at USB port? or external wireless mouse.
we cant see what you have there, nor what are are using now.

if the PC is not infected.
click control panel, the click mouse icon there, bingo change mouse actions.
or reload the HP mouse driver.

My gateway scroll wont wor9

Scroll on mouse pad may not be a "default" factory setting. Go to Control Panel and access Mouse Settings and look for this feature and activate it.

If this does not work then go to Gateway Website and look for SOFTWARE AND DRIVER DOWNLOADS ., Select your model and Operating System and look for MOUSE. Select Moust Driver Download and RUN and reinstall driver.

If both do not work than your mouse pad has to be replaced due to physical issue
