Question about Apple iPhone 3G

1 Answer

Jailobroken 3g iphone is locked at the boot screen, will not start up past the boot logo. Last installed package from Cydia was Binary ITB (?) font for Fontswap. When applied, no apps would start, and when I went for a reset, it never started up again, and got stuck rebooting.

same but with itouch 2g... im going to try to restore and rejailbreak... stay away from that app!

I have the same problem, but I have never "jailbroken" mine. I dont even know what that means! Mine is stuck at the screen with the apple logo, then dies, then appears again. No buttons do anything. It did that all night then in the morning, it was still doing the same but with the screen that basically says: "plug in, no battery". So I then plugged it in, and it seems to be working fine.

On top of though (unsure if it has any relation), before, the volume, hold, and on/off silent switch were all doing their own thing while nothing was touching them. I then took it back to an O2 shop, where it was purchased (still in warranty, about a month after purchasing), where they happily sent it away for repairs. About 2 weeks later, it came back with a shitty letter, saying that they hadnt done anything to do, as the warranty was voided because of water damage. Now this REALLY annoyed me, as I am absolutely 100% sure that I have NEVER got it wet. I am extremely careful with it. So with this, I made them send it again, and they said the same. Great. But that's not the worst part, as that problem cleared itself up. Untill recently that is, when it started to do it again. And now this problem has happened. I wont EVER be able to get it repaired now, as the warranty is voided.

You can try to use "tinyUmbrella" to see if cydia has you ssh on file..
tinyumbrella website

once you start the software you click the button save my ssh..

once it's done processing you can click on start tss server

This tss server will allow you to bypass itunes server which restricts downgrading firmware...

Once Tss server is running you can start itunes

once itunes detects your iphone shift + click on restore

Select the iphone 3g 4.0.1 firmware (goto http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ to download this)

Once it restores fully at the end it will give itunes error '1015'

dont worry..

Install Libusb if you dont have it..(Click here)
after installing libusb just use this program.. ih8snow
Click on "Fix recovery mode loop"

Click on yes to "do you have libusb installed??"

Select iphone 3g from the list

your iphone will reboot..

now you can first activate it ..

then you can use safari to goto Jailbreakme.com
slide the slider at the bottom...

it will download cydia

when cydia is installed you have to add "repo666.ultrasn0w.com" as a source
Its a zero "0" in the sn0w not "o"...

Search google how to add new sources.. to cydia..

Once you are done installing the application inside the repo666.ultrasn0w.com source your phone will be finally unlocked..

Of course easier way out would be to pay someone who knows how to do this..

regards

Iphone wont turn back on after cydia download

Open itunes. with your phone off hold home button and plug phone into computer and hold until itunes sees the phone. You can restore then. The phone will be in dfu mode. If that doesn't do it connect the phone hold home and power for 6 secs. then release the power button while holding the home until itunes sees phone. Restore and use your phone again...

Iphone 3g complete crash!

The only thing I can think, is that you got hold of a bad package cause my iphone edge did the same thing. When restoring make sure to let iTunes download the firmware so that you dont get an uncompatable version of firmware and get a head splitting head ache like i did, i downloaded the 3G firmware off the net only to relized almost three hours later that that version of the 3.0 firmware cant be loaded on the edge.
