I would like to update the graphic card in my computer

I bought a computer 1.5 year ago, and I realized now, my computer (Compaq-Presario SR5109) is not good enough for games. It has got 251 MB graphics memory, and on the motherboard there are 3 slots. Two PCI x16, and one PCI-E x1 ( I think so). I spent so many hours the last couple of days to get this information about my computer, but I still do not now which graphic card would be the best to play games. I have Windows Vista which is another problem. I would like to find a not too expensive graphic card which is compatible with my Windows Vista and can play games. I found PCI-E x1 256 MB graphic card, which is more expensive than my computer. Is ther any other solution?

I could not find PCI-E x1 512MB graphic card. There are lots of x16, but not x1. I am thinking to buy 512MB PCI graphic card which is compatible with Windows Vista. Does someone know one? Not a PCI-Express, just I PCI card. The old slot.

PCI Express cards can be expensive, as you've noticed. They are the fastest video cards out now, and you pay for the speed. The link below is for a moderately priced card, $129.99. There are other less expensive cards available. I have purchased from this site for years with good success. Check it out at:

Good luck, and please let me know how it works out for you.

The monitor will not come on Compaq Presario S3300nx

Check ALL cables, try another monitor. It may be your Graphics Card, open case reseat card, try a little house cleaning, Use Electronic Contact Cleaner spray and a few cans of compressed air. If all is clean and reseated the Card, cables connected and reseated, no bent pins. Replace the Graphic Card with a AGP Graphics Card. I would suspect the computer, at it's age will start to fail a bit at a time. Mine did after 6 years.

Cq50-215nr screen not working

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay, the inverter board just below the LCD is the most likely cause, or the backlight behind the display is gone. However if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card.

I have compaq sg3530il desktop and i want to know which graphic card is compatible with my computer ?

You must contact the manufacturer of the computer (HP) for compatibility and recommendations for a graphic card. Go to the HP website and click support and send them an email. Only the manufacturer can give you a straight answer. HP bought out Compaq several years ago, so I'm sure it would be HP to contact.

Type of video card

The Compaq Presario SR1630NX desktop computer, has a PCI-Express x16 slot on the motherboard, for a PCI-Express graphics card.

The Presario SR1630NX came out in 2005.
PCI-Express 2.0 technology came out January 15, 2007.

The Presario SR1630NX uses the PCI-Express 1.1 technology.

You can use a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology, however.

PCI Express 2.0 is Backward Compatible with PCI Express 1.1

You just won't get the full capability, of a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology.

Will you notice?

NO

I need a list of compatible video cards that can be installed to upgrade the computer to make it run smoother and assist with games, I also need to know what processors can be installed in it ato upgr

I hope you realize the manufacturer recommends a maximum of 1GB of RAM in this system.

Since the system only has PCI slots, any kind of PCI video card should work without a problem.

there is atleast a 5 year difference between your computers. Technology has made a huge jump from back then, especially in graphics cards!!! that LCD was probably made after your computer, alot after your computer as a matter of fact. So it is your graphics card. get a new computer, its time to update

If you re-installed Windows XP and you had Windows XP you did not install an older version - you just need Windows updates and most likely the sound card driver. Windows Update may eventually provide a driver, but I'd check the HP Website (HP owns Compaq) for drivers.

Graphic card

the pc you are using probably has onboard video and not a seperate dedicated AGP graphics card, which needs atleast 64MB of memory and T & L support, so check the card before you buy, if you already have an AGP card fitted it may not support T & L
