Question about Whirlpool GU2400XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Door brake on dishwasher broken

The door damper on my Whirlpool dishwasher has snapped with a loud bang and now is free to fall to the open stop when the catch is released if you do not gently drop the door whilst supporting with your hand. Is it possible to rectify and if so what steps are required to get to the malfunctioned part and replace it?

Many thanks

Part number 8194001.. easy install, just need to remove th eunit form the cabinet perhaps 1 foot or so, the "door links snap" the kit comes with everything you need(including instructions) probably 20-25 bucks.. i get $200 for that job, might take you all of 30 min.

Whirlpool dishwasher door falls open fast when opening. plastic part came off, but don't know where it is from

remove the bottom access covers on the bottom of dishwasher. turn on the dishwasher with water valve in off position so you can here the motor running, while its on, find the breaker and turn off power.you will here motor stop. disconnect power wires from power box on right hand side, then disconnect water line open the dishwasher door and at the top remove screws holding dishwasher in place. pull dishwasher out from bottom.you may have to adjust bottom adjustable screw legs. pull it out and check sides where springs are for the door to open and close. it may have came loose.

Door is hanging down to floor.

Change the damper on both the sides. Dampers are hydraulically controlled with a spring. It is similar to the shock absorbers in automobiles. Similar dampers can be observed in car rear wind screen door also. (dickey door). Replace it as a set.

LG Model LD-14AW2 - loud bang and door dropped open as if a door hinge or spring snapped. Are both sides of door normally supported. Are parts available to repair. Where do I get a manual. Colin

Hello- Parts are available locally at app. parts store. Need complete model #. Usually have to pull out unit to install. Replace both sides. There will be a spring, sometimes with a cord to pull door up. Either part can break, so get both. Not easy, but you can save a bit by doin it yourself. Hope this helps. -Thanks- ED

Heavy dishwasher door that falls open

I think any parts person would recognize it by that name.

It's a fairly simple fix.

The one you have may just be loose on one end and not broken -- check that before you buy one.

Broken door spring?

Either a spring or a door cable. On newer Kitchenaids and Whirlpools, it is usually a "cable" made of rope and plastic that breaks, not the spring itself. Get me the complete model number and I will look it up for you...

I recently had the same problem. One of the cords that attaches the door to a spring had snapped. I purchased cord replacments at the following URL and completed the repair myself. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1059756&PPStack=1

Good Luck, Tim K.

Kitchaide Dishwash Door

There is normally 2 heavy springs & cables that control the "falling" of the door located in the bottom of the machine or it the door itself. Sounds like one (or both) have snapped.
