Hi Stanley, I took out the plastic on the door locking mech (two screews) but I realy don't know what to fix. I've tried to put again the plastic but I can not screw anymore... Many thanks for your help. David

If this fault appears after you shut the door but before the programme starts then it's worth checking the tightness of the screws holding the interlock in. These are the one you can see with the door open, no dismantling required. If they are loose then the catch (******) on the door can have trouble reaching the interlock properly. If the fault code appears then it's more likely to be a component fault.

The censored word in my reply is a term used by engineers, manufacturers and spare parts suppliers ect. In fact anyone in the trade. It's like "decker" but begins with a "P"...

Sorry, edit. I meant to say "If the fault code appears part way through a cycle then it's more likely to be a component fault."

AEG Lavamat washing machine model 76850, shows a blinking key and makes clicks and after that shows E40. Thanks John

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
I suggest rapid reading alarm code when appliance is in normal operating mode (e.g. during the execution of the washing
programme):
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and any of the option buttons for at least two seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the alarm.
The alarm sequence continues as long as the two buttons are held down.
E41 - Door open
E42 - Problems of door closure
E43 - Interlock power supply triac faulty
E44 - Door interlock sensing circuit faulty
E45 - Door interlock sensing circuit triac faulty

Possible causes:
Door interlock faulty, wiring faulty or PCB faulty.

Lavamat 72640 will not pass 24min on wash timer. sometimes it will show a E40 code but not always.

Hi.

on Oko washing machines E40 means defective door lock. Since a faulty door lock switch may go out with vibration you often do not get the error all the time. The door lock switch must be tested and eventually replaced.

Regards.

Electrolux ewf1074 error e40

I've just bought one of these machines, and the manual says the E40 warning means the door is not properly closed. Seems like that would be obvious if it were true, but maybe check that it is closing completely.

Washing Machine does not work and shows error code E40

E40 is a door related problem. Possible causes are faulty door interlock or door circuit triac on the main PCB.
Most likely cause is the door interlock.
