Solution 1 is probable, a ps/2-mouse works as well.
(plug next to usb hub, the round one, also for older keyboards)
special parts are expensive but
if you want o spend money, see acer support....

You will need to completly disasemble the laptop to replace the click button, if you are not confident doing this then my advice is to use a usb plugin mouse.
