Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer

Waher fills up and empties at the same time

I have an Whirlpool Ultima Care II washer, and while I am filling it, the water empties out the drain hose at the same time. In order to get it to fill so I can do a load, I have to keep shutting it off, turning it back on and spinning the dial around until I get lucky and can get it to fill.

I now have the same problem with my machine, although it has worked perfectly for five years, (so I know it's nothing to do with the drain hose height). Any other ideas?

    Thanks

    Ronnie

You definalty have a drain hose issue, id bet that either your drain hose is lower the nte hunit itself or even connected to and outside drain sorce with out any "air gap/brake" i the drain line.. your creating a siphon action, you drain line should drain into a stand pipe no lower the n the back of the units console

This issue calls siphoning effect. It happens when the drain hose was somehow lower or not stand vertically. It causes no air pressure column in the drain hose to keep the water out. Check the drain hose and make sure it is high enough. Try to hold the drain hose straight up and see if it is happened before having further inspection.

Remove the drain hose from the stand pipe at the wall and place it in a large bucket. Simple gravity will allow the water to empty from the wash tub. That is, as long as the drain hose and/or drain pump is not clogged.

Another method is to use a wet/dry shop vac to pull the water from the tub basin. Depending on the size shop vac, you will have to empty it several times as the wash tub capacity is usually about 33 gallons.

If you need further guidance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Water continues to fill after it should have

first does it over flow.if not pull your drain hose up from the drain till it is aleast the same level as the back of the waher control panel.
If the Drain hose is to far down in the pipe this will cause the water to drain out by gravity.the other least likely problem is a bad fill pressure switch.

Water runs straight through to drain hose

Has the drain hose been moved?  The outlet of the hose needs to be higher than the top of the tub to prevent water siphoning out.

Yes if its filling slow do to a blockage in a screened hose it will .If it never stops filling and doesnt over flow than its syphoning the water and you need to elevate thr drain hose higher than the water level and it will kick into wash. Please rate This !!

Washer will not fill with water

Is your drain hose lower than the top of the cabinet?? The curved part of the drain hose needs to be slightly higher than the top of the cabinet. Also, the drain hose must have an air gap around it where it goes into the house drain. It sounds to me like your washer is syphoning water out through the drain hose as it is trying to fill. Hope this helps..............
