SOURCE: I have a Harman Kardon AVR 235 Receiver that go's into Protect

To avoid making the avr go into protect mode when you power up your Hafler 4000 that is connected in the avr's pre-out, you must power up the set up in the correct sequence.

1. Turn off your avr
2. Connect Hafler 4000 to the avr's pre-out it it is not yet connected
3. Turn on your Hafler 4000. The avr will not go into protect mode becasue of the transients from the Hafler because it is still not powered on.
4. Turn on you avr. There should be no more transients from the Hafler at this stage unless it is not functioning correctly, so the avr shouldno longer go into protect mode.

SOURCE: My Harman Kardon receiver (

I used the live chat and the problem was resolved.
Usually the problem are strands of speaker wires which cause shorting and protection shuts off the receiver in order to prevent damage. There was one speaker that I repositioned recently which was causing shorting. I twisted the wires and tightened them in place and my receiver has been working w/o a glitch. I was lucky that I did not have to check all the wire strands on the receiver and all the speakers.
Problem solved and I learned valuable lesson.

SOURCE: can I conect harman Kardon avr 230 to apple tv

Yes, although it (AVR) does not support HDMI only component video.

Connect the audio to the receiver and the video directly to the TV if you have inadequate video inputs, or want to take advantage of the HDMI.

Testimonial: "cheers, have a good year."

Why Harman Kardo HK 3490 goes into DSP voltage protect mode

This amplifier can go into protection if one of the low ohm resistors on the power module that is soldered to the transformer is defect. Check out R951 and R952, they are both 0R47 (0,47ohm). They are often broken and measure some kilo ohms.

Hk 3490 receiver on protection mode....what it means and how to correct that

You can try a factory reset after checking your speaker wires for shorts. The procedure is in your owner's manual. This will most likely not resolve your issue. VOLTAGE PROTECTION CHECK DSP

AMPLIFIER HARMAN KARDON:
Code: <check input> means: fuses resistors back of the transformer. They should have .4 ohm low ohm. Often they go on kilo ohms or mega ohms, means they are open. Change them. That's it. Code: <Check DSP> means something on logical board or flat strap connectors defect. Also check voltage on output collector and also check -15 volts and +15 volts on multiplug up on the middle right of the amp on the logical board. Check all voltage preamp on connector cn21 and cn24 on right of the logical board up middle right of the amplifier. I'm a certified Harman kardon technician. If you have other questions, just ask me. Good luck all. Serge.

My jbl control now speakers high keep blowing ...why??? im using it with harman kardon 3490 amp, this is the 3rd time i would be getting them repaired...

Little speakers like these won't dissipate a lot of power without blowing and real bass isn't their thing. At best they might work out as satellites. The 3490 and your listening habits could be too much for them.
