Not sure what you are talking about, but how do you think MS makes money from Warranty? If it is under Warranty, it is repaired at no cost to you.
If you are referring to the red ring of death, they have lost a **** load of cash due to that problem. They even redesigned the xbox 360 in later versions to try to avoid it. It is caused by the unit overheating and the GPU desolders itself from the board.

yes this is a very common problem this means the cpu/gpu has overheated.
if the unit was purchased less than three years ago you can still get it covered under warranty as addressed on microsoft by clicking here. this is actually a serious problem and effects a few consoles, much like the RROD if it is not under warranty you can try doing this and i stress the not. Make sure of this by calling microsoft before attempting this. if you do not want to do the overheat fix i suggest either A. find a company that fixes xbox's and provides a real reflow. Not a heatgun and a fan. But a actual infrared reflow station. or B. Send it to microsoft and pay the money to get it repaired. or C. sell it on your local craigslist or to someone that repairs them locally and use the money to buy a new xbox 360 slim or a used xbox 360 that is working but then someone might have already done the overheat trick and it may not have much life left.

Xbox 360 is broke

If you're talking about the Red Ring of Death (three red lights on the ring of light on the front) then you have become one of the many Xbox owners with this problem. This is caused by one of two things, the first being a cable not being fully connected (just disconnect all the cables and turn it back on) or its the video chipset overheating (most common reason). Its not easily fixable, it requires a bit of modding inside the Xbox, not something easily done by everyone. If its no longer under warranty you can certainly search about the RRoD fix and if you feel comfortable with it, go for it, either way you can't lose, you have a fixed Xbox or you have a broken Xbox and you've not really lost anything (other than about 5 bucks for the parts needed).

I had that same problem and mine was out of warranty so Microsoft wouldn't fix it. My friend told me about this site and in just over a month I had one for free!! I thought I would tell everyone about it cause even though it takes time it's better than spending the money.. Try it out and then tell your friends too.

Xbox 360 insert disc prob

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. I think you have got good no. of options to get your Xbox repaired, Choice is yours.

Disk problems

Take the disc back to the store. Maybe it was scratched when you got it. They should replace it with the same game for no trouble, especially because it is so new.

Also make sure you don't change the position of the xbox while playing games. If you move the box from the horizontal position to the vertical it will badly damage your games, and your lens.
