Are the USB ports enabled in BIOS?

Have you ever used them ?

I have this happen regularly with many USB drives, not just Sandisk Cruzers. Sometimes removing it, waiting a few moments, and reattaching it (making sure to insert it straight, not at a funky angle, which can result in a confused system due to momentarily not being properly connected) does the trick. Rarely, I've had to reboot because the confusion wasn't so easily forgotten by the system.

Sometimes, I've noticed that plugging it into a different USB port does the trick, so if you have multiple ports available, try that too.

On Linux, with one particular USB drive, if I boot with it already in the port it works, otherwise, it has all sorts of random issues. Perhaps keep that in mind if none of the rest helps... though I would call that a malfunction, since only one of my drives exhibit that behavior, and considering it triggers unnecessary check-disk requests under Windows, perhaps that's a sign to toss that one.

Hope these ideas give you the tools to figure out what your unit likes. Funny how some of them develop 'personalities'...

Don't forget to rate the overall satisfaction of this solution.
Remove the device by Right mouse click the device and select Uninstall.
Then Scan for hardware changes by clicking on the icon in the top menu that looks like a computer with a magnify glass.

Then close all of that out and then; Go Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management Select Disk Management under Storage Look to see if your Drive is listed and what the Status, Layout, Type, and File System it has.
Right mouse click on the dive and click on Explore to see if your files come up. If yes, then perform a Change Drive Letter and Path.
Let me know what the status is.

The blue light keeps flashing on and off on my Seagate 4Tb XHD. It won't show up on the finder as connected. What causes that?

follow these steps:
  1. Make sure the computer and external hard drive are powered on.
  2. Safely remove the drive from the computer (if possible).
  3. Disconnect the external drive's USB or FireWire cable.
  4. Disconnect the power supply plug from the external drive.
  5. Power off the computer.
  6. Disconnect the computer's power supply cord for 60 seconds.
  7. Reconnect the computer.
  8. Power on the computer.
  9. Connect the power supply to the external drive.
  10. Connect the drive's USB or FireWire cable and check for detection.
If that does not correct the behavior, and if the drive is also not detected by your computer, the blinking light is probably a symptom of a larger problem. If those steps do not return the drive to correct function, it is very possible, even probable, that the drive has failed and needs to be replaced

My seagate freeagent 1tb is blinking whit lights and my computer does not recognize it. Help me

***Please NOTE***
Touch the drive and put your ear to it, to test if the drive is spinning and working. Do this while it is powered on. Also, try disconnecting the USB cable, reboot the computer, re-connect USB cable to another USB port on computer. If you still have the same issue, try the below solutions.
  • Make sure the computer and external hard drive are powered on.
  • Disconnect the external drive's USB or the eSATA cable, which ever one you're using.
  • Disconnect the power supply plug from the external drive.
  • Power off the computer.
  • Disconnect the computer's power supply cord for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the computer.
  • Power on the computer.
  • Connect the power supply to the external drive.
  • Connect the drive's USB or the eSATA cable and check for detection.
If the still no detection and still blinking lights on the drive, check the power supply to the drive.
Check to see what the led light on the power supply is doing.
If it's blinking, power down the drive, unplug data cable and then reconnect the power supply to another electrical outlet. If it still blinks repeatedly, then you power supply is bad.
If the led is solid (lit and not blinking) follow the same steps from above to connect it to another outlet.
Next, plug the power supply to the external drive and power it up.
If the power supply starts to blink repeatedly, then your controller board inside the enclosure is bad.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

Ultra traveldrive not readable

Try the HD on another computer and see if it runs if it does then is is the port, Check the USB port with another USB item like a camera or something, If the port works then it is the drive. USB drives can and do burn out from time to time.

Cruzer Micro 2.0 Won't initialize

Dear Ajax310 Fistly you must see if it initialises. If not then your drive need replacing. Is your pc connected to a network with many drives mapped? if so try this. 1. Right click on "My Computer", go to "Manage" and select "Disk Management" under "Storage" 2. If you see your USB drive, right click on it and select "Drive Letter and Paths" and select "Change" button and select any available drive letter. 3. You should have access to your drive, only if this the problem. Your problem description suggest this to be the problem or the drive would not power up.
