My Acer Laptop doesn't recognize my CD drive

It all started after my laptop dropped. I noticed that my dvd drive did not show anymore in my computer screen. I dont know if it is a major problem or something i can handle on my own. If it is please tell me how.
P.S I think i might need to remove the drive but i dont know how to so could someone tell me

It depends on a model. Somtimes you've to open all laptop but usually on a new laptops you have to unscrew only one screw. I suggest you to google, how to replace cd/dvd drive on your exact model. Maybe your drive is ok try to disconnect and recconect it. I had the similar problem with Toshiba Satellite A30 and it was anly connection problem.
