Hi and welcome top FixYa,

Based on your postings, the problem could be communications with external devices such as the CD changer. Removing any and all except power and speakers should confirm.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

You need to disconnect the battery cable for five muinutes to reset the radio. If you have an ati theft code set on your radio, have the code at hand, the radio will ask the code on startup.

If that does not work, all bus errors are related either with the external CD unit, or with the remote controls on steering wheel.

In that case you will need to disconnect all the wirings, apart speakers, memory, and power to troubleshoot the problem

Regards.

Disc is upside down, uneradable or dirty.
If this is a burned Disc - make sure the music is in CD Audio format - not MP3.
If this is a purchased disc - swap for another and re-try... making sure it is in right side up.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

yes - the BUS error is in the BUS cable. Disconnect the changer (behind the radio - not at the changer) to bypass.

I don't remember what that code is exactly, but I thought those codes were for the CD Changers. Do you have one?

It appears to be an error in the format of cd's that you are using.

It means no disc or no magazine

May be the disc is upside down with the label down or the laser pickup can not read the disc and believes the tray is empty

try a laser cleaner or it might need to be repair
re-align the laser or replace the laser
good luck

Error 99 appears, unit is draning battery and cds have jammed up. where can i get another unit from apart from genuine as they are too expensive due to the climate control!

Hi.

If this is a Kenwood, then Error 99 means the following:

• E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

Before replacing the unit try disconnecting battery for two minutes (ensure you have car anti theft code). If that does not work, then the unit must be taken apart, there is a disk stuck or a mechanical problem.

Regarding replacement, to find one you need to post details on make and model. Ebay is a good source for second hand factory replacemnts. Here a generic list.

Error 99

The E-99 code refers to a "Disc Mechanism Error" for all Kenwood systems. This essentially means that either the magazine is messed up (if you're using a multi-disk system) or the CD loader on a head unit is malfunctioning.

Per Kenwood's factor manual:
Something is wrong with the disc magazine. Or the
unit is malfunctioning for some reason.E99
➪ Check the disc magazine. And then press the reset
button on the unit. If the "E-99" code does not
disappear, consult your nearest service center.

From http://www.kenwood.nl/support/veelgestelde_vragen/ Changer Error Codes ? E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service. Get a nerd to open it up and clean out all the hand-salsa inside. It may be gumming up a microswitch. Luck
