Question about Compaq Computers & Internet
I get no fan connected prompt when I turn on my evo D510 the fan is there but turns at a noticably slower rate than I would have expected, first time I have ever owned one of these and still have not found mb (climber on bottom in white letters) manufacture any info on either? don't want to use clear cmos switch (#2 on bank of 3) till I know more than I do so far.
Good call, don't clear the cmos. You probably have a bad fan. It's not that uncommon for fan bearings to go bad. One of the three wires on the fan tells the motherboard the rpm of the fan. If it's running below a certain rpm, the PC won't boot in order to protect the cpu from overheating. You should be able to pick one up for cheap, around 10 bucks or so? Make sure you buy the correct size. These fans are measured in mm. Tiger Direct, 80mm case fan... 5 bucks.
