Question about Canon PIXMA iP3000 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

No matter what color I choose to use, everything prints blue or black. My ink tanks are all full and are new. I ran the cleaning tools and the heads are open but all the colored stripes were shades of blue.

Remove the print head . soak in isoprople alcohol 91%proof. do not touch the gold pads in back of the print head. do not push hard on the head with the soft cotton cloth as tiney fibers of cotton may clog the heads further. let soak 5 minutes at least. then air dry and replace in printer and run clean cycle or deep clean cycle . then print a test page again. you might want to wear rubber gloves for this... ps clear house hold amonia helps cut the ink if you get it on anything

Full of black ink & need to print black. other colors are low, and it wont print!! I dont need the other colors

I ran this process two months ago when the printer was 4 months in use.
Try running through the manual cleaning process for the print heads.
1-press ink
2-choose cleaning
3-choose ALL. If that doesnt work try cleaning BLACK only.
when the cleaning finishes the machine will go back to standby mode automatically.
see pg 172 in users manual under routine maint.

Canon i960 printer won't print in blue

Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!

Cant print black or do black and white copies

He's not saying that the black cartridge won't print (which would warrant cleaning the heads, or messing with the cartridges) -- I have the same problem that MarkDan is having as well... no matter what you select as the output from any "Print" dialog window, the HP 21xx and 12xx series printers _always_ print in full color. You can choose Black and White, Greyscale, Color -- doesn't matter what you choose in the dialog boxes, it utterly ignores you, and will always print in color.
I have no idea why it does this, but it's eating a _ton_ of color ink for no good reason. I have searched all over the Web and on HP's site, but solution has been found.

Canon i960 will not print in black ink

Yep same as above. Black prints very light gray after 5 years of good printing. Tried every test, replaced black cartridges with different brands. Just wondering if somehow you can clean the heads. I'm convinced the black head is almost totally clogged. Does anyone know how to remove the printer heas to do this?
