Question about Uniden Cordless Phone
I have GE 900 MHz Cordless/Corded Speakerphone. Model # 26955SE1-B Recharge cradle # for 2nd phone is 5-2478. Caller can hear me but I hear nothing on my end. It did work before. I used it in the bathroom so could water have splashed on it, not that that's the case. I took the back off but nothing seems to be broken. Please, if you have another idea.

A phone uses a voltage drop to determine when it is answered or hung up. What is happening in your case is the phone or base unit, or worse yet the house wiring has a short to ground somewhere. This also cause the static you hear. You can get a regular phone and plug it into the same cord and see if it works normal. If so it is not the house wiring but the phone or base unit. If so you can only hope to find the short yourself which is very time consuming and difficult on modern digital units. Sorry to say it's cheaper to get a new unit than pay for repair. The only other thing that cause those symptoms is the batteries are going dead. I assumed you checked this first. If not you can try changing the battery pack on the phone.

We just had the same problem with our AT&T 2462 hand sets. They simultaneously stopped transmitting, and though we could hear the caller, no one could hear us on the other end of the line. We unplugged the base from the power source, took the batteries out of the hand sets, waited 20 seconds, then plugged everything back in and they worked just fine. Hope this helps.

I don't have the answer but have the same problem. Uniden tech support had me disconnect power, etc. to no avail. Next solution was "replace the unit". I'm looking for a two-line phone with no answering device - use voice mail. Any ideas?
