Arctica ice maker won't work without help

The fridge is a few years old and just recently started making ice very seldom, now it won't make ice at all unless I "help" it. From reading in another forum, I turned the ice maker off for 30 seconds, turned it back on, then moved the flapper back & forth 3 times. After a few minutes, I could hear the ice fall into the bucket and the tray fill back up with water, but the ice will just sit in the tray and never drop unless I turn the ice maker off and do the flapper trick again.

The solenold valve would not shut off completely & was leaking water on the paddle that the controls the icemaking. We replaced the solenold water valve & we now have ice!!!!! Good luck!

Won't dispense ice

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge.

My ge profile arctica fridge is reading about 42 degrees, but the freezer side is working fine . Its about 5 years old, a tech took a look at it and said the fans and fuses looked fine... any ideas?

u probably are starting to get an ice up behind the freezer compartment or your fan has stopped blowing the air into the freezer first thing is to make sure the fan is blowing the cold air into the fridge side if not then there is your problem if you do feel the fan blowing then you would have to carefully remove the rear panel and check in the areas that have willcall them holes tat go into your fridge if they have ice built up inside of them if they do have ice then you have a defrost problem and would have to be aqble to perfom a continuity test on the deforst thermostat and the defrost heater if both of these are fine the next thing that you would look at would be your defrost timer check for the air and the ice and if you stillhavent found the problem write back hope this helps

FROZEN WATER FILTER - UNRELIABLE TEMPERATURES

About the dual water control valve the side that feeds the ice maker could be defective. Fill the ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If it dumps and does not refill the water control valve will need replaced. Here is a link to the water control valve.

Not making Ice

Best thing to do is make sure the paddle is free to move and not covered in frost. and if that doesn't work. Replace the Icemaker and you will be good to go.

Thanks,
Bill
