I have plugged in power to the board from the power supply with a "Y" cable

  • piks53 Feb 20, 2009

Thanks, that may be it, as far as I can tell, my power supply is 250 watt. Not sure yet what my card needs. Am checking that out.

    Thanks again

  • piks53 Feb 20, 2009

th \e video card needs 350 watts and I have a 250 watt power supply, so I ordered another power supply, 410 watt. Thanks a lot for the info, you have been very helpful. I know I will be back to this site as I have another computer that has issues.

The beeping sounds indiactes that there is not enough power going to the video card. On the power supply you will have to have a certain amounts of volts and there is a adapter on there and on the card htat will allow you to hoook power up to the back of the card. The card needs more power. Make sure your power supply meets the requirements of the card

Are you sure that the wattage for the power supply and the video card is what the video card asks for?

There are only 3 reasons why i video card would beep, Not enough power, low memory, or the power supply is not strong enough

The one long-two short beep code is for bad memory, not for a failed video card.
Shut down your computer, remove one stick of ram, reboot the computer, and repeat for each stick of ram, until you find the bad stick.

On button flashes yellow but wont turn on

unplug the power cable for 10secs. press the power button while its unplug to remove all the electricity in the cpu. connect the power cable and then press the button. if you hear a beeping sound when you turn on the cpu, you have a problem with the motherboard. if no beeping sound, check the 4 diagnostics lights at the back of the cpu, advtrbl5.jpgMemory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred.
  • If you have one memory module installed, reinstall it and restart the computer.
  • If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  • If available, install properly working memory of the same type into your computer.
  • If the problem persists, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manualfor instructions on obtaining technical assistance
advtrbl6.jpgA possible expansion card failure has occurred.
  1. Determine if a conflict exists by removing a card (not the video card) and then restarting the computer.
  2. If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, remove a different card, and then restart the computer.
  3. Repeat this process for each card. If the computer starts normally, troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts (see "Resolving Software and Hardware Incompatibilities" in the Owner's Manual).
  4. If the problem persists, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manualfor instructions on obtaining technical assistance.

  • If the computer has a video card, remove the card and reinstall it, and restart the computer.
  • If the problem still exists, install a video card that you know works and restart the computer.
  • If the problem persists or the computer has integrated video, see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manual.

  • Ensure that the cables are properly connected from the hard drive, CD drive, and DVD drive to the system board.

I have no sound when running either media player or video clips !!

Do you hear the beep sound when adjusting sound level from volume control or in other circumstances? If yes, then maybe you don't have a codec pack installed. Try installing K-Lite Codec Pack or other audio/video codec pack.

If this is the solution for your problem, please rate my post, otherwise give us more details.

Andras

Definition of beep codes on power-up beep-------beep beep beep-------beep beep beep---------beep on a t2542 emachine

Sounds like a video error. It may be caused also by a bad memory, but I suspect problems with video.

I have a pt880 msi the video stopped working installed a new card still nothing only getting a bunch of beep sounds

The beep sounds usually signify 1 of 2 things. Unseated or bad RAM, a video card that is not properly seated or has went bad. If you are using a video card that requires a power connection make sure it is connected. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

ABIT IP35V, LONG and Continues Beep when There is a Geforce GT8800 video card installed.

Beep by motherboard are due to hardware problems. It's either the hardware is problem or it's not properly connected. Try check your RAM or graphic card weather it is fix properly. And also try to check your jumper connector. Sometimes one of the jumper connector may be damage and create the beep sound.

PC beeping, monitor will not display

we have different sound we can hear in cases of hardware problem, once the video card has loose contact it also beep continously, a beep sound also occurs when the ram(memory card) loose contact, one beep sound when it boot clearly it proceeds as go signal going to operating system. if you are using an upgraded video card remove temporarily and use the on-board from your motherboard. in case that it won't boot and still you hear a beep, beep ,sound then, switch-off the power take out the memory card clean the contact points(bronze color) with pencil eraser, make sure that no remaining residues of eraser remained before you install to the slot. i hope that this solves your problem

first check the specs according to the manual of your ram memory. is this complies rom the manual? did you installed video card? if you installed video card then temporarily remove this and use the on board. if still doesn't boot the ram memory is the problem. there are diferent kinds of beep sound according to hardware problem we have the long beep, a continous beep and so on.
