I have just purchased a Dell laptop with Windows 7 home premium installed. I have a Cannon PIXMA MP495 printer, what do I need to do to operate thist printer wirelessly?

If you have a wireless router with a wireless network then -

Configure the IP address your wireless printer, (this is done through the printer's menu settings) make sure it matches the IP address range on your wireless network, it maybe 192.168.1.*** then configure the wireless printer with a fixed IP address with the same IP address range but at a higher address eg. 192.168.1.10 so it does not clash with any other IP addresses.
Next install the printer driver normally.
Then configure the printer Properties.
Click Start - Printers and faxes - right click on the your printer - click Properties - Port tab - click Add Port - Standard TCP/IP port -
Port Name eg. 192.168.1.10
Printer name eg Network printer
Click OK
Then do a TEST print if it does not work then the IP address is probably incorrect.

I bought the DWL G710 range exender hoping to boast range for ipad use, so can't use CD and tried the internet address given in the manual but it does not connect. Apart from the connection problem that...

Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your computer's LANport, open a browser and enter the D-Link's configuration URL. OR open thebrowser on your laptop and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now configure the wireless settings .

Check your DHCP server settings. Do you have your voice and data riding on the same subnet? I would start at the DHCP server and work my way back to what the configuration of the phones IP, GW and subnet mask are and verify that it is pulling from the correct pool of addresses. It is always best to segment network traffic especially voice and data but if it is pulling from the phone reverify the settings on each device and check your DHCP pool, it could be out of addresses in the IP range, or configuration settings are not set correctly. Hope it helps you out!

Cheers!

Use Belkin f5d7230-4 as a wireless access point

Hi Druid,

Based upon what I've read regarding and experience with the F5D7230-4 is it will only work with another F5D7230-4 or F5D7231-4, F5D7130, F5D7132 and this are all Belkin products as well I thiink it has something to do with the WDS compliance for this specific model that's why they have clearly specified on the User Guide which devices are guaranteed to work with an F5D7230-4 that is set to AP Mode(Bridge/Repeater).

If you really want to exend the wireless coverage of your Linksys router I suggest you try the Wireless G Range expander(WRE54G v2.0/3.0 version 1.0 I do not recommend since it's somewhat challenging to configure since it has no ethernet port all the setup will be done wirelessly)

click this link for the User Guide of your Belkin router.

For best results, you should connect it directly to the other router with an ethernet cable.

you might be blocked your SSID broadcast in your wireless router make it broadcat enabled then it will find your connection.

Your lap is ok and settings are well, b.coz it gets other signales. So just check your wireless AP settings.
