Is the computer new and still under a WARRANTY.?

If so, you cannot add a new anything without voiding the Warranty.

    Let me know please.

Any new ATX PSU will do.

Prices variate, but an 500W PSU is good for this purpose and medium in budget terms.

Graphics card and psu upgrades

In general I would never recommend to upgrade a fixed (mass production or brand built) PC. Also with these specs if your are trying to make a gaming PC out of it you are going to be disappointed. Never the less if you still want this I can only suggest to go for the bigger PSU like GS800 so the GPU could work a bit better plus a set of ram for a total of 8.

Gateway GT5040 Graphics Card

This model Gateway desktop computer has a built-in video card.
Connect the monitor to the Gateway motherboard video port and the boot up and go into the BIOS and select disable the built-in video.
Shut down then connect the monitor to the 8800GTX video card and boot up the Gateway computer. The video should then appear in the monitor.

Changing acer t690 processor

Yes, you can change the CPU, but your Motherboard will only support certain processors, Take a look at this Acer Support, you will see the compatible CPU's: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireT690/AspireT690sp2.shtml Remember : Your machine's component work with one another, within parameters, one component,CPU, will not give you the improvement you might think. CPU, Memory, Graphics Card, Etc.,Upgrades, require more Power/Watts, therefore a new PSU. Which create more heat, new fan. One relies on the other. Do your research, their's a lot more to it than replacing one component. Do a comparison, what will all the components cost, to a new System? The prices for new Good Systems , are low due to slow sales of Desktops/Laptops.

I have a Acer AX1200-U1510A AM2+ Motherboard and i would like to upgrade the processor, ihave 4 gigs of mem and a 1 gig Gigabyte Gt 610 graphics card. I only have a 240 watt power supply what processo

Should work with a processor of the same socket type. I'd seriously upgrade the psu myself. Personally I'd upgrade the motherboard and processor to a quad core, and get the fastest ram, look at ebuyer.com, you can buy a bundle upgrade package for less than you may think. :)

Does This Graphics Card Work With My Dell Inspiron 530s Even Though My Power Supply Is Only 250 Watts? Will my computer work with this card even though the PSU is only 250 watts?...

I think you're asking for trouble. The specs at the link you gave recommend at least a 300-watt supply. By the time you figure in the normal load of everything else in the system, there probably won't be enough power from the 250-watt supply to let the card work reliably, and may affect overall system operation. One of the problems with small form-factor computers is that they often use a proprietary power supply to fit the case, and you can't replace it with anything larger. This limits expansion capability. I'd suggest saving your money.

Sounds like you are overtaking the power supply with the upgraded video card. 250 Watt is pretty much an entry level PWS, with most systems and upgraded Video I suggest a 400 watt PWS or higher

if thats wat the specs say then thats most probably the max youve just bought one thats to powerfull, and y did you need so much power the most powerfull graphics card in the world needs a 750watt power surpply, your computer is probably not designed to have major upgrades, and by looking at the specs i can see that your computer well putting it simply is **** for upgrading the specs are **** (no offense intended) i suggest upgrading to a whole new computer if you want that sought of power and graphics

How much watts of power do i have?

the 9600GSO uses arounf 250 watts under load. While I cannot fing exact spec for the HP PSU I would be surprised if it were more that 350W. Is there any indication on the case or can you open the case up and look at the PSU?

9600 GSO Power

You need somthing in the order of 450W or greater. Get an Enermax, Corsair or other good quality PSU.

Upgrading power supply

The next time you get a PSU. Tell them what you have. Apparently you got one that is not compatible with your compaq. The power (500 wattage) will work with your MB.
Get an OEM PSU from Compaq(HP).
