Owners guide GE VCR model VG2001

Note: most remotes allow you to find the code by manually turning the TV (or other device) on first, then press the appropriate button (cable, DVD, surround, etc) then setting the the remote in the "program" mode, then keep pushing the "off/power" button until the TV (or other device) turns off, at that point the code is set.

What is the code for the remote control for vhf6012a VCR

For which remote exactly? Each manufacturer of programmable/ learning remotes has their own code base and unique numbers for each code.

Asking for a device code without stating the make and model of the remote is pretty pointless. It is like asking for the postcode/zip code of Acacia Avenue but without specifying the city and district. Give us the make and model of the remote and then the community might be able to help

GE VG4020 constantly say's timer is set and won't record .

You can try the makers website for the book, they might have a free pdf of it. You will struggle without a remote though. Enter the model number into Google and see if you can find a remote for the model. If they are too expensive for the original, then get a good quality universal. But i would always recommend the original remote over universals.

I need to set a 'One For All' Remote control, and I need the 3 digit product code, so I can make the control work.. The model # is VR5000A Thank You

One For All remote manuals and code lists are available here: http://www.oneforall.com/support/manual . Which specific remote do you have?

Most of the One-For-All remotes use a 4 digit code. The only one, URC-2005, that has 3 digit codes (of the ones I located) gives Orion VCR codes of 036, 088, 121, 208, 209 .

Note: remotes are limited to having codes for devices released at least 6 months before the remote was programmed. If your VCR is newer than the remote, you may need a new remote.

I hope this helps.

Menu button on remote

First step unless you did it already, is replace the batteries in the remote with new high quality batteries. Make sure they are installed correctly. and fit properly.
If that fails it's either a failure with the remote or in the infrared circuitry in the VCR.
A cheap test is to buy one of those cheap universals and attempt to perform a setup.
The procedure with those universals is they give you a bunch of code numbers for your brand of VCR and you try them one by one until you hit the one that will shut off the VCR. You have to have turned on the VCR manually before starting the procedure.
If no code turns off the the unit (make sure the universal has new batteries) then it's probably a failure in the VCR itself.
Universals can be found for a few dollars at dollar stores ect.

No manual or remote

Following the instructions I have been able to program a Philips SRU4105WM/17 universal remote using the first Mitsubishi code from the code list. However, I had to have the universal remote "learn" the vcr/tv button function (I assigned it to the Exit button). Good thing I still have the original Mitsubishi remote:-) I haven't tried having the universal remote learn all the functions, such as Cancel, Counter Reset, Audio Function, Video Function etc. I could see if I'm able to program those, if you'd like. LMK if you have any other questions.
