SOURCE: GEJE2160 Stop Working

It probably blew the main power fuse in side the oven. This may have happen because of a failure in the microwave or a line voltage surge or what ever. Repalce the fuse and see if it work. be sure to unplug it before doing this, If this does not fix it then you have a failure in the oven some were.
good luck

SOURCE: GE less than 2 year old microwave runs, doesn't heat

The problem you are having is that the magnetron that actually does the heating has gone bad. The fact that everthing works fine rules out any type of bad fuse since there is only one 15amp ceramic fuse in most cases in the unit itself. The magnetron is located behind the control panel on top and has some cooling fins on it. Replacing it if you are a do-it-yourselfer is pretty easy provided you can find one at local electronic supplier or on the internet such as www.mwoparts.com if you would like to see what it looks like. It is held in place with typically 4 screws. It has two to three terminals depending on make and model and age. With everything unplugged it comes off easily enough with no desoldering or soldering to do. There is a High Voltage Capacitor and Diode that could be bad also, but without being able to check it in person it would be difficult for me to tell that they are. In my experience the magnetron is the first thing I replace and have never replaced a capacitor or high voltage diode in the past 20 years. Good luck and God bless.

With the symptoms you have, I would most strongly suspect a shorted high voltage rectifier diode or a bad magnetron, or a loose and possibly corroded connection on the magnetron's terminal.

The diode is a fairly cheap fix, and your magnetron is still under the part warranty, but you would have to pay labor.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (1 year), G.E. will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If it's within the mag warranty, G.E. should send you the magnetron to do it yourself. Call them at 888-239-6832 with your model, serial, and manufacturing date.

If nothing else, you can save about $50-75 if you remove it from the wall and take it to a GE-authorized servicer.

You can find a GE-authorized servicer by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-848-7620 or here.

Accessing some components for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

SOURCE: GE JE1860WH 04 microwave

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, see:

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Ge microwave jvm1740 start and clear/off button not working

Sounds like a bad keypad. You will need the full model number off the microwave to look up the correct control panel part number. Sometimes these type of parts can be really expensive & it may make more sense to replace the microwave depending on the age and condition.

Why

The table motor belt may have detached which stops table from rotating and the magnetron control shuts off the heating if table does not move. Need model number etc for the microwave. It is not recommended to open the units unless you are qualified technician or understand the operation of the microwave oven. The voltages and waves can harm human body.

Where can I get another GE Sensor Microwave oven #JE 186oWH 04

The likely problem with the turntable is a bad turntable motor. If your microwave is JE1860WH, the motor is part 6549W1S017A, and is available here: http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/search/part/312564/126487 . Other parts for the microwave is http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/microwaves/ge/je1860wh.html .

Unfortunately, I do not know of any source for this model.

I hope the parts source will help with your current microwave problem.

Ge spacemaker microwave jvm1640cj03 stopped heating. interior always clean. light, timer etc working.

If it stops heating and the other parts of the oven still work, the problem is with the magnetron circuit. If it makes a loud buzzing noise when you try to heat the food, then the magnetron has shorted out. The replacement cost for the magnetron is almost as much as a new oven, so it does not make sense to have it fixed. Sorry.
