SOURCE: Brother DPC- 115C

I have same problem. It started off as empty ink and low ink so I replaced first the black, did a test print then even though the other one yellow was still unchanged low the test print came out as black fine, cyan fine but yellow and magenta blank. Because it was blank and reading low I changed the yellow anyway but its still blank. After lots of tests and cleans magenta and yellow still remained blank. Now the cyan is near empty and the magenta even though nothing has been printed. I took them out many times to see if it will get it working tried all the above suggestions and anyway its now started saying no cartridge. I'm not using orig brother ink and don't expect it to be as good but not to print some colours at all is a bit odd. Cant get round this no cartridge thing though, machine has hardly been used so I'm disappointed if its had it.

did you remember to remove the pull tab to allow the new toner to be utilized? it's either that or you just have a defective toner cartridge which if you replace will take care of the issue. If you have used canned air to blow out your machine it is possible that the toner dust has been blown into the laser housing and fogging up the mirrors that it uses but that's kinda a last resort check...

Brother DCP-135C Every time I switch on the printer, I get "Cleaning Cleaning Cleaning" for about 4 or 5 minutes before I can print anything. It's driving me potty. Is there a fix for this before I chuck...

try these options below....
turn on/off, unplug, plug in2_bing.gif, should reset configs.

take all the paper out, put half as much back in.
check the rollers to make sure no paper or particles are stuck.

go to applications folder for your computer, dbl click printer icon for make of printer. check settings. print 'test document and clean cartridge heads', this should ensure proper printing formats. another thing might be that you have to leave the printer on at all times, have you've tried this? i have known printers to be this way, not so sure with your brand though.

lastly, go to web site of printer model and check site for trouble shooting if this does not work above.
hope this helps and good luck

The colour on my Brother 135C Printer is not printing properley, could it be that the printer heads need aligning? If so how do I do that? Regards, David Melton

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck

Ink well cleaners

There is a design reason why the print heads are changed when you change an ink cartridge is changed. The print head isn't made to be reused and the quality of your print will suffer at some point if you reuse the same print head 6 or 7 times. I would get new cartridges and be happy with the print quality that a new cartridges will bring.

Printing is faded and too light

more important than all that nonsense is:
is it faint when you do an internal report or make a copy?
if only on copies it is the film on the underside of the glass.
if on prints and copies it is the drum.

Using far too much ink

This came from brothers website:

The Yellow ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Magenta ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Cyan ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Black ink cartridge yield is up to 350 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.

so it appears that what you are experiencing is not normal and you may have a leaking printer.

There is one thing you can check though, everytime you print, make sure that you are not printing at the highest quality option selectable as this almost certainly will fire out more ink than regular printing... choose a middle quality option or even draft option if you will be printing regular text.

Brother DCP-135C Print Quality Settings Not Working Correctly

Have you uninstalled the driver, and reinstalled it?

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, have you downloaded the latest software from Brother's website? www.brother.com

It sounds like the driver is confusing the settings internally, which leads me to think that it is either corrupt or not compatible with your operating system.
