I need a driver for my USB to serial port cable and my laptop does not have a cd to read the disk

You have at least one USB slot. On another computer you can try copying the driver CD to a USB drive, then use the USB drive to install the driver.

Hi! What cable/adapter should I buy so I can use foot pedal in my laptop using USB? Foot pedal is 9-pin, used for transcription. Thank you.

Hi,

The following link should meet the requirements assuming your existing cable is defective.

XND-1 will not work with mxl upload/download on windows usb port

Try the Prolific Drivers at:
http://prolific.com.tw/eng/download.asp

I have a Dynex Dx-UBDB9 Serial-USB cable that did not work in
Windows7 and downloaded this driver:

PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_10311.z ip

It even worked on my 64bit system.
good luck

Also,
Remember to unplug anything plugged into your USB ports, install the software, reboot the computer, plug in
the USB-Serial Cable (but disconnect it from what it is attached too, ie, a GPS unit), and windows7 should recognize it.

then plug in your GPS, modem, or what ever is plugged into the serial-end of the cable and you should be good to go.

If all else fails, let Windows7 try find the driver for you, Windows7 is much improved.

Tried using usb to seriel adaptor but unable to read while reading 2way radio software. pretty sure its between the usb/adaptor

make sure that both the cable and the software that you are using are set to same Com ports.

Ex. the cable set to Com4, the software must be set to Com 4

To change the Com ports of the cable you just got to Device Manager under System Properties then on the properties of the serial cable there is an option to change the Com port settings.

To change the Com port setting of the software just simply go to its settings or preferences.
