Recovery (code 104)

From Archos' support website FAQ:

When I switch on my Archos device, the following message is displayed: "Would you like to recover your system?" What does it mean and what should I do?

You are on the recovery mode screen. It means that your hard drive has been damaged and must be repaired or formatted.
With this system recovery mode, you will have to select between "Repair Disk" and "Format Disk".
Start by selecting "Repair Disk" and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. See the full PDF manual (available on the Archos web site) on how to use the Repair and Format options.

If repairing the disk did not work, try formatting the disk by selecting "Format Disk". Note that the formatting will erase all data.

If you still cannot restart your Archos after trying a system recovery, you should contact Archos technical support.

Dear sir i formate my transcend t sonic 610 how to recover

Hello

My apologies if this message finds you long after posting this problem , but I am currently working through a backlog of problems that never got answered and hopefully this info can still be of use if not now possibly in future.

Please download Disc Digger HERE. This is a free tool you can use that works very well and there is no installation required, just run the program once you downloaded it.

Once you have connected the memory disk / hdd to the computer , run the program.

On the program , select the dig deep option for accidentally deleted files or dig deeper for a formatted drive. Then select the disk you want to do the recovery on and run the program.

The data will be displayed and you can recover it from there. This will only work if the card has not been used since the data was lost. Save the files to a location on the computer hard drive and not back to the disk it is recovering from as this will overwrite the other pictures that still needs to be recovered.

Some of the properties of the files may become lost in the recovery but the pictures should be fine.

You will also only be able to recover certain file types using this method.

Feel free to ask if you need more assistance.

Kind Regards
Andrea

I have a Creative Zen Sleek (20G) andit will not reboot as it comes up with "Hard disk problem" Could you let me know how to get this repaired

this is a recovery for the zen player
Detach your ZEN 20GB from the PC and ensure that it is turned off.
  1. Connect the power supply to the player (Optional).
  2. Slide the Power switch towards the Power On icon zen_20gb_reset2.jpg and hold it there while inserting one end of a paper clip into the Reset hole underneath the player. zen_20gb_reset1.jpg Warning: Take care to insert the paper clip into the Reset hole and NOT the Microphone
  3. The Rescue Mode screen appears when ZEN turns on.
    1. Remove the paper clip and release the power button.
    2. The following options will be displayed:
    1. Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
    Reboot Reboots the device.
