Only thing you can do is try cleaning the lens. there is on you can reach by q tip with a little rubbing alcohol. any thing else requires dissasembly. if you want to do this you will need to remove the face plate four screws on the back 2 on the right 2 on the left under battery and warrenty sticker one las screw on the silver trim rig @ bottom of lcd once plate is removed you will need to remove the lcd screen this is done by first undoing the menu bar/volume control buttons use a small flat head screw driver pick one side left is prefered and slide the bar off will require small pressure. then take the flat head screw driver and wedge on the left side between the lcd mount and lcd and twistpushing the lcd in and up once one tab is released go to the top side and repeat process once 2 tabs are up on one side you can pull the lcd out a little adhessive may have glued the lcd to the mount just pull lightly til the adhessive gives at this point you can either remove the electrical ribbon form the menu bar and the lcd the flaps for the lcd pop on the top for the small ribon and bottom for the big ribbon and the menu bar flips from the top with those out of the way you will want to undo the bottom right screw not attached to the lcd mount then on the bottom left of the lcd mount there are 3 screws next to each other undo the middle one these 2 screws lock the umd door on now flip over psp use flat head on bottom left side same concept as lcd put pressure in towards umd and out once tap is out other side should work out do not twist too much. once outside cover is off remove metal umd frame just open as normal and look at hinge there is a tab limiting motion just push tab and complete open motion then slide tray off hinge tabs if you see dirt dust on any part of the laser clean it. there is also a refration glass make sure it is clean as well there is also the laser reciever/transmiter if you wish to clean this you may have to remove drive remove 4 screws and 2 ribons ribbon going right left is a slide clasp . once all is clean just put back together make sure on umd cover you get the eject spring in the umd cover guide or umd cover will not close. If you don't wish to try this yourself email me @neo2123@cox.net we could arrange a repair if in the U.S. if umd drive is just dirty I'd only charge 10$ if its bad I'd only add parts charge which last time i checked on e bay is usually 10$ plus shipping of corse.

I want to download music from my computer to my PSP handheld

well all you need to do is connect your psp to the computer and put the music int your music folder. NOTE: the psp can only read from one folder in so you can't put a music folder into a music folder and then put it into the psp music folder. ex: psp > music > u2 > vertigo > Song = can't read; psp > music > u2 > song = can read.

No source will read my memory stick pro duo mark 2

  1. Try re-formatting your memory stick from your PSP console. A memory stick that is formatted from a PC or other hand held console sometimes cause incompatibility problem with the PSP.
  2. If your PSP still can not read the memory stick, try checking your memory stick by using your friends PSP and see if they can access the memory stick.
  3. If the memory stick can be accessed by your friends PSP then there is a problem with the memory slot of your PSP.
  4. The only way to check the contacts of the memory slot of your PSP is to disassemble you PSP and take out the mother board.

Psp memory reading?

It might be that the SD card's format isn't right for the psp to read, if you have a psp usb cable you might be able to change the sd card to the right format via CPU.
