Question about Dynex USB 2.0 CompactFlash Card Reader

Compactflash card writer/reader erasing pictures

I have downloaded lots of pictures with your writer/reader and now for some unknown reason it's erasing my pictures before they are downloaded unto the computer. Why? I tried a different card that I downloaded a few months ago because I thought maybe my compactflash card was maybe defective and it also erased all my pictures. What would your recommend I do? Can I recover my lost pictures? I sure hope I can.

I have the same problem with my internal multi-card reader that came with my Acer Vista machine. It started around February 20th, same as the other post here. The only thing that changed on my computer was that I installed a Seagate FreeAgent external drive, but I was able to successfully download at least one set of pictures from my card since I installed the new drive, so I don't thing the Seagate is causing the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

I discovered that my particular problem was caused by bent pins in the card reader. I straightened them and re-aligned them and reader is back to normal.

Computer is not recognizing Dynex 5 in 1

What type of computer? The device is plug and play for Windows and Mac, Mac does require you to insert a card before it will mount, however. In windows you just need to access the drive letter the card reader creates when you install it.

Try another USB port, avoid using this in conjunction with a USB hub.

I need to replace the data cable and need to know which one i need

Hello,
The manual says the cable that comes with the Dynex CompactFlash Card Reader is a "USB A-type plug to mini-USB plug". However, this isn't very specific since there is a mini-usb A and mini-usb B. Please look at the following chart and compare it to the input on your Dynex.

I just bought a SanDisk 4GB microSDHC memory card and adapter. I saved my photos from my LG XENON phone to this microSDHC card but can not download them. I have a mac desktop computer running Mac OS X...

You must use a SDHC compatible reader/writer, please check if the readers of your Mac and printer can handle this kind of SD, if they don't, you could use a USB SDHC compatible reader.

I have inserted the lexar card reader into the USB drive (wuth memory card) but cannot figure out how to download or even find the pictures.

Go into "My Computer" and locate the card reader drive icon. If it's not there then you need to load its' driver. If it is there, merely double click on it to open the files contained in the card.

Its not even showing up on my computer that it is connected

Not to be a wise guy, but did you have the memory card in it when you connected up? If so, take it out and clean the contacts with a soft cloth and at least 90% alcohol. Also, look inside the reader to make sure none of the 4 pins are bent or broken. If all this fails, try it on another usb port. Sometimes they get reassigned by software or something, and won't detect certain devices on certain ports, for unknown (to me) reasons. If all this fails, try the card reader on another computer (maybe you should try this first). If everything fails, I would deduce the card reader is bad, and get another one. Good luck.

My computer does not recognize my 7K05 when I plug it in.

Does it read other usb device? If not, it could be that your USB drive is disabled from your bios/cmos settings.

Try to enable it upon rebooting your computer, quickly press Del (delete) from your keyboard to go to the CMOS setup. From the Advanced Setup, enable the USB drive.

SanDisk Extreme Firewire Reader not recognized by Vista machine

I opened the reader mechanically by unscrewing the two screws beneath the rubber pad in the bottom. I saw that two pins were pushed out of the connector. By carefully pressing them back in again I found that after closing the unit and carefully inserting a CF card it was working again Yipee!!
