Compactflash card writer/reader erasing pictures

I have downloaded lots of pictures with your writer/reader and now for some unknown reason it's erasing my pictures before they are downloaded unto the computer. Why? I tried a different card that I downloaded a few months ago because I thought maybe my compactflash card was maybe defective and it also erased all my pictures. What would your recommend I do? Can I recover my lost pictures? I sure hope I can.

I have the same problem with my internal multi-card reader that came with my Acer Vista machine. It started around February 20th, same as the other post here. The only thing that changed on my computer was that I installed a Seagate FreeAgent external drive, but I was able to successfully download at least one set of pictures from my card since I installed the new drive, so I don't thing the Seagate is causing the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

I discovered that my particular problem was caused by bent pins in the card reader. I straightened them and re-aligned them and reader is back to normal.

My sony cyber shot camera suddenly is saying that my Lexar 4GB CompactFlash Premium Series 80x needs to be formatted. What about my pictures?

You might have locked memory card. If not first try to connect memory card to PC with memory card reader and try to copy your stuff... then after you take all stuff try to format it.

How to make nvram recovery procedure for konicaminolta bizhub C252 ?

You'll need:

1- 1 compatible CompactFlash card (not all of them work, you'll need to try for yourself)
1- 1 CompactFlash card reader/writer
1- This tool

There should be a document enclosed with that tool explaining the process, it's fairly easy and quick. Notice that the procedure will solve some NVRAM related problems and also some network card related problems, but it will not erase your counters.

Cant download from camara to pc need to dpwnload program dont have disc

If your computer does not recognize the camera when you plug it in to the computer and you do not have access to the software needed, you will need to find another way to get the pictures onto the computer straight from the memory card. If your computer has a memory card reader, use that because that's the easiest way to access pictures on a memory card. If your computer does not have a memory card reader, you can buy a USB adapter that your memory card can fit into and your computer can read through USB. They are cheap and useful. Here's a good one for 12.99 from that reads many types of memory cards including:
  • CompactFlash Type
  • CompactFlash Type II
  • Memory Stick
  • Memory Stick PRO
  • SmartMedia
  • xD Picture Card
  • SD
  • MultiMediaCard

I have inserted the lexar card reader into the USB drive (wuth memory card) but cannot figure out how to download or even find the pictures.

Go into "My Computer" and locate the card reader drive icon. If it's not there then you need to load its' driver. If it is there, merely double click on it to open the files contained in the card.

How to transfer pictures, computer to ultra card reader/writer

Open up Windows Explorer. Not Internet Explorer. So you can see all your drives and subdrives.

Find your pictures. Let's say you had them on C:\My Pictures. Go there and copy them all. Then find out which drive your card reader/Writer is showing up as. Usually like G.

Once you've copied the pictures, switch to that drive and paste them. Remove the card reader and they should be on there.

Error E11 with DC4800 camera

This error "may" be associated with a battery problem. Is it possible that the battery is not charging properly.

Other things to try are as follows

1. Connect the camera to the AC adapter or insert onto the Camera Dock and press the Power button on the camera

  • Remove all sources of power (batteries and AC Adapter) from the camera.
  • Remove the Kodak Picture Card or Compactflash Card.
  • Wait a few seconds.
  • Press the Power button twice.
  • Connect the appropriate Kodak AC Adapter to the camera.
NOTE: If you don't have the correct AC adapter, insert a set of fresh or fully charged batteries, according to the User's Guide.

3. The COMPACTFLASH Card could be corrupt. Reformat the card using a card reader or a PCMCIA card adapter in a notebook computer. ***Remember, reformatting erases all information from the card***

4. Try a different CF card as I have seen them fail causling errors.

I have a Olympus fe-340 i can't get the off the camera to my computer

Seems like you are saying you don't know how to download the pictures. I suggest for you to buy a usb card reader. this solves a lot of problems with digital camera transfers. Put the card in the reader/writer and download all the pictures to the computer in the folder you want. If you have pictures in the internal memory, you should be able to copy them to the card in the setup menu.

Downloading pictures from memory card

Not sure if this will help, but after I used a reader/writer, I could no longer see the pics that were on my memory card unless I had it in the camera. A reader/writer reformats, so you will need to reformat the memory card to upload to your pc.

Formattting again and again my SanDisk Extreme III 4.0 Gb CompactFlash Card

Hi, It may be possible that your CompactFlash Card is nearing its end. You can try formatting it after you have downloaded into your PC all the pictures. Try to use the camera's built-in formatting function. Thereafter plug it back to your PC and use a disk checking utility such as scandisk or Norton Disk Doctor. Do an intensive check including the free space. If the disk check shows any errors, then the CompactFlash Card is no longer a reliable storage media and you are better off purchasing a replacement rather than gamble that it will still work. If for some reason, even your PC can not access the card, you have to use a file recovery program to recover/download/copy the picture files and then try the disk check utility. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
