The filter inside the inlet valve is probably clogged and needs replaced.

When I try to use my Thermolaire model SU402E, the pilot lights( and stays lit), but the main burner will NOT ignite.. any suggestions as to what could cause this if the pilot stays lit?

Bad igniter? When you 1st try it the gas valve will give enough gas that you would get the burner lit if the igniter was glowing red. If you're desperate you can light the igniter area w/ an aim n flame, but you definitely want to do that w/ caution and crank up your t-stat so the furnace stays on awhile Cuz you'll have to do it again for heat or buy an igniter($40 or so)

I changed the thermo coupler and the pilot light does stay lit but the burners won't light

If you are referring to a gas fireplace:

  • Make sure the pilot knob is turned from "pilot" to "ON" or it will never run.
  • If the pilot knob is "ON", and the pilot is lit, but the burner won't light, it could be a bad Thermopile. The thermopile is the other safety mechanism in the pilot assembly that controls the burner.

Burner won't light, pilot is burning just fine.

Once you get the pilot to light and stay lit did yall move the burner knob to the ON position? Is the temp knob all the way up?

How do i light pilot light?

Remove front cover,or just lower section if you can. they usually just need to be lifted up about an inch or so and pulled out. However some have covers that snap in place. After you remove cover locate gas valve. It should have a control knob on top with markings for on, off, and pilot. Set control to pilot. Follow lines from gas valve to burner compartment, one goes to main burner one ,small copper colored line is the thermocouple, other line is the pilot. Turn thermostat down as far as it will go. Make sure gas supply valve in line to heater is on and then depress pilot control , when you have pilot control depressed have a match or other small flame source close to pilot assembly. If it lights then hold down on pilot control for a couple of mins. Slowly release pilot control and if it stays lit turn gas control to on. Turn thermostat up to call for heat and burner should light. If pilot doesn't stay lit when you release pilot control then try again holding pilot down longer. If it still won't stay lit then thermocouple will need replace. Good luck. Thanks

Cozy wall furnace (propane) does not respond to thermostat. The pilot is lit. Furnace is 3 yrs. old and rarely works. The wire to thermostat is 20 feet.

Try jumping the two thermostat wires together to see if the heater starts. If so, replace your thermostat. If not, jump the two terminals where the thermosta twires attach to the furnace. If it starts, you have a bad thermostat wire or connection.

Pilot is lit but the heater won't fire up

A few things dictate when the main burner turns on. One is a thermocouple not getting hot enough, the other is a bad thermostat ot thermostat wire, and another is the gas valve. First look at the gas valve located on the heater and make sure it is in the On position and not in the Pilot position. Remove your thermostat and jump the two wires together. The heater should light. If not, go back to the gas valve and find the wires up to the thermostat, the should be attached to terminals marked TH and MV or something similar. Jump the terminals. The heater should start. If not, you may need to replace the thermocouple.

Heat will not come on. I think thermostat is fine and the pilot is lit on the unit. what else could i check?

You can check if the thermostat is working or not by removing the thermostat from its base and placing a jumper wire from the red wire to the white wire. If the furnace burner lights then you have a thermostat problem.
