Replaced Starter, new battery, diconnected aftermarket alarm, even tried jumping starter relay and also removed intoxiloc gadget, red light on dash next to steering wheel still blinks after putting key in ignition, any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
The factory anti-theft system may not like the chip in the key you are using.
You may have to get a new key or have the system tested.
thanks for reply, kinda was gearing towards that however i was told the tech from intoxiloc said he "supposedly" diabled the factory alarm, ive been looking for the wiring diagram for the factory alarm, u know of a site that may have one?
I've never worked on a Toyota system. You'll probably need to buy a used shop manual since the system can't be bypassed.
so i had the ecm reflashed with the key, alarm light goes out now when the key is inserted, but....still wont start, no clicking from starter, tried to jump at starter relay, still nothing..WTF...
You should have a small brown red wire going from the relay to the starter motor. If you jump that and the starter does not turn, the starter has failed or you have a connection problem between the starter and the battery.
The starter you put on could be bad out of the box. I would lean toward a bad cable or ground connection.
the starter was tested before i bought it, so i know its good, the connections for starter are good, (checked them before i put plenum back on...gonna try jumping the relay wire like u mentioned, i know i am getting close to the problem
well got the car running nicely again after carefully checking all wires pertaining to starter relay,
