The factory anti-theft system may not like the chip in the key you are using.
You may have to get a new key or have the system tested.

I've never worked on a Toyota system. You'll probably need to buy a used shop manual since the system can't be bypassed.

You should have a small brown red wire going from the relay to the starter motor. If you jump that and the starter does not turn, the starter has failed or you have a connection problem between the starter and the battery.

The starter you put on could be bad out of the box. I would lean toward a bad cable or ground connection.

the starter was tested before i bought it, so i know its good, the connections for starter are good, (checked them before i put plenum back on...gonna try jumping the relay wire like u mentioned, i know i am getting close to the problem

1998 ford mustang no start just a single click

If the starter is clicking when you turn the key that means it is getting power. It could possibly be a bad new starter but before taking it out and testing check your battery and ground connections. Make sure they are clean by using some sand paper. There is also a ground wire that hooks to engine make sure it is hooked up and not corroded. Even though you bought a new battery make sure it is fully charged. Remember to remove the ground from battery before taking any positive wires off. Hope this helps.

1998 Lexus GS400. Key stuck in ignition after reading obd2 codes

Hi,
Do you have the Owner's Manual? If so, look in it for the way to deactivate the Alarm when the battery has been disconnected. This is only for the FACTORY Lexus alarm. If yours is non-factory you'll need to 'google' the alarm brand and 'how to turn off'.

Last week, my 1998 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start (clicking sound) and I thought it was the battery. I jump started it but noticed that it still made the clicking sound, for my first couple of tries, it did...

If car wont start and clicking sound is heard this is a battery related or starter related, if your car battery is in good condition (which I think it was) then the problem is your starter, have it check to confirm.

My truck won't start i replaced ignition the tumbler the neutral safety switch. It will crank right up if i jump at starter but not with the key

  1. This is the starter sequence on some dodge trucks
  2. turn the key to start
  3. start signal goes to computer
  4. computer closes a starter relay in the relay box ( underhood )
  5. starter relay in box triggers the starter soleniod on the starter.
  6. PS could there be an aftermarket alarm system on the truck?
  7. some alarms only interupt the starter signal

Turn key and nothing happens, replaced the starter, now it is only clicking from the new starter. I have a new battery instaled that will show 12 volts on my dash when connected to another battery jumping...

if you replaced the starter with a remand unit it could still be a bad starter(personal experience),but if your battery show 12v only when being jumped your battery is having issues, take the battery and have it checked if it was replaced before the starter it could have problems due to the starter drawing to much at once and not recovering, and also have the alternator checked out this will kill a brand new battery very quickly even with nothing on.

1994 Camry wont turn or do anything for that matter

Hello,
The red wire is the starter wire, this is the main wire that connects to your starter switch to tell the relay to turn over that starts your car, the other wires are the ingnition wires, these wires is what allows the vehicle to turn on (lights, radio, engine,)
What it sounds like he did when he removed the alarm module was disconnect the power wire that supplys the starter switch.
Try tracing the wire back to where it is connected and see if there is any wire cut the same way as the other end.
try connecting a a remote starter switch from the battery directly to the starter solenoid. this will allow you to see if the wiring inside the car is disconnected or if it is the starter.
