Question about Philips Televison & Video
Disc tray will not open. DVD is stuck in there.
I have a Phillips DVDR3390/37 and was getting a BLOCKED message. I found that by utilizing the slot on the bottom of DVD and moving the mechanism slightly to the left, it would open the DVD tray. The white plastic you see through the slot is part of the motor driven mechanism that raises the DVD disk up to the drive wheel that spins the DVD. The opening and raising actions are interconnected mechanically. I suspected the motor was going, so I unsoldered its black and red wires fom the small printed circuit board and removed it by also removing the two small screws on top. The board has a + mark and this is the red wire, remember which wires go where. (Might not be red and black.) I tested the motor with a flashlight battery and it seemed to run OK but didn't spin very long. This is a very small motor without a lot of reserve power. Removing it allowed me to oil the top bearing, the only one you can get at, as the bottom bearing is not open. You don't want oil all over the pulleys and the rubber band that rides in the pulleys and you have very little room to get the oil in under the plastic pulley. I used automatic transmission oil, a fine lubrican for a lot of things. This only takes about 1 drop of oil. If you get oil on the pulleys or belt, clean them with alcohol. This procedure fixed mine. Hope this helps.
