I have a Samsung HCN5529W projection tv. The picture went dark, but the sound was still on. I turned it off thinking I had pushed a button on the remote. When I turned it on the next day I could see smoke coming out the back. The tv is about 5 years old. Any ideas????

What you have is a convergence problem.
There is 2 modules inside your set that aligns the colors to have the same geometry and superposed .
It is a common problem in rear projection tvs ,
You don`t have to worry about your blue tube , i`m sure it is perfectly fine, it just needs to be aligned through the convergence circuit.
Most often the problem is with those convergence modules that are faulty and need to be replaced.
Hope this will help good luck
More likely its one of the Video output ICs which are located on the three CRT drive boards. I have seen that happen when one of the ICs fail they are TDA6111Q heres what they look like they are attached to the aluminum heat sink on the drive board
There are 2 convergence IC's in the typical projection TV, and one of yours has burned out. If you have green sagging from the top then the convergence IC that handles Green Vertical (GV) needs to be replaced. The Samsung sets typically use the STK392-040 IC's. If you have no experience replacing convergence IC's then let a qualified tech change it for you.
