We have the AT&T 2 line digital answering system #1872.

Until today we have 2 lines connected. Today we had the phone company move one of the lines to another location so our two line phone now only has one line coming into it. The red light for line 2 has remained lit, although there is no line there. Is there any way to turn that light off? It makes it look like that line is in use but really it doesn't exist. Hope you can help.

Unfortunately, there is no way to turn that light off. I had the same situation and researched, called help lines and even had the phone company out to check. The light will stay on. but there is no service to it.

Describing Cheap Dial Up Internet Connections

Today you can find a 56k modem. Transmit data at a speed of fifty-six Kbit / s V.90 or V.92 protocol. You must understand that this is the fastest available dial-up modem. 56k is the limit of maximum bandwidth of a standard telephone line. Be sure to connect to the Internet in areas with less noise power to prevent low-speed Internet connection. At this pace, you can play online games, download large files, make video conferences or movies from a video streaming site. Many of these applications are not compatible with Internet Dial-face. A broadband cable high-speed, satellite or DSL Internet service are better preferences.

You should expect all to take a little time to coordinate a phone connection, negotiate the protocol and, finally, allow the transmission of data. In some places, this process is slower. Note that the entire system consists of three entities - the ISP, Telephone Company, and the user. All have the power to terminate the Internet connection for some reason.

Yes of course. Before the introduction of the latest 3G wireless high-speed cable and DSL broadband by satellite, it was a bestseller. Today, it's always a good option for remote areas that lack the technology or broadband fiber-to-date. Satellite networks are suitable for rural people who want to get broadband connections faster and reliable. In urban and rural areas, attracts fewer users dial-up packages which do not require very fast network and you want the lowest cost monthly cost for ISPs.

This technology is very similar to digital subscriber line (DSL), because they use a phone line. However, DSL is more preferable because it is much faster and can use the website and answer a call on the same telephone line. Unfortunately, dial-up does not work the same way, the caller will often find your line is busy. In terms of broadband connections, ADSL first. Offers the latest technologies that offer greater speed and accuracy, such as ADSL, SDSL, VDSL and HDSL.

Help me with setting up the answering machine

The LS6215 isn't an answering machine. If you have a separate answering machine connected to your phone line, refer to its documentation. If you subscribe to a voicemail system offered by your telephone company, contact them for instructions on setting up and using their system.

Need to connect ans. machine to single line on a multi line business phone. Help!

Out of box, the AT&T 1738 is designed to operate on a single telephone line. I don't know of any device on the market today that could automatically switch it between multiple telephone lines.

Some options include (in no particular order):

1) Purchasing additional 1738s to cover the other telephone lines.

2) Some cordless telephones on the market are designed to handle 2 telephone lines. Their answering machines will cover both lines. AT&T and Panasonic offer such phones.

3) Check out AT&T's line of NoKSU small office telephone sets. The phones will handle up to 4 telephone lines and 1 model features a built in answering machine. In order for the telephones to function 100% all phones would have to be replaced with the models within the AT&T NoKSU family.

4) If this is strictly a business application, consider purchasing a true business telephone system for the office.

Parasonic auto-logic answering machine

Hello, yes it sounds like your trying to connect a "analog device" to a "digital" telephone. If you wish to connect the answering machine to answer your line or lines, you should contact your facilities maintenance department and see if they can "hardwire" your telephone line (your primary phone number), to another jack in your office so your answering machine will work by being placed in "parallel" with your phone system and your primary phone number. If you have more than one phone line (number) you wish for the machine to answer, you will need to ask for a "analog extension" from your digital phone system and have it programmed to ring when any of your roll over lines ring. However, keep in mind the machine can only answer one call at a time, the other simultaneous callers will get a ring no answer until the first caller has hung up. Good luck, hoped to help. CG

Not working

Astonishingly, assignment of announcement to phone line is not documented in the user manual. Tech support was totally worthless concerning this issue. I had to discover it by trial and error. To assign an announcement to a specific phone line do the following:
1) Record your announcement message for a, b, c, ao, etc. as documented
2) Press program
3) Keep pressing the feature button until ANNC appear at the bottom of screen, line 1 appears at the top, and the letter 'a' appears in the middle.
4) Choose the announcement to be assigned to Line 1 by pressing the select button
5) Press the feature button again. Line 2 appears in the display.
6) Repeat step 4 to select the announcement to be assigned to Line 2.
7) Press program button, or take phone off-hook to end the sequence.

Shame on AT&T for such shoddy documentation, and lack of support for their products!
