Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
My Aspire 1802 will not boot up. The power light comes on, the HD light comes on for a minute then nothing. All this time there is no display and I have to disconnect the power cord and remove the battery to turn it off.
First the bad news - it could be a bad motherboard. Now the better news - it could be a simple fix. First try plugging in an external monitor to is, and see if anything comes up on that. Then try booting with just the adapter, no battery, and with the battery only, no adapter. Next try taking out the ram and putting it back in again. Still no luck? Remove the drives (hard drive and optical drive) and the wireless card from the laptop. If that doesn't work, see if the cmos battery is accessible. If it is, remove the cmos battery as well as the regular laptop battery and the power cord, and leave everything out for 15-30 minutes, before reconnecting everything and trying it again. Last thing to try is, if you can get to it, remove the heatsink and take out the processor, then put it back in, making sure that it is locked in, and reattach the heatsink using thermal paste, and try once more. After this, if it still is not working, you are most likely looking at a motherboard issue.
