the dishes do not smell clean

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2014

Been experiencing a little water in bottom of dishwasher. The problem was worse before I replaced the timer leaving about 1-2" of water. Now it will drain leaving about a quarter inch of water. I would check it as soon as the cycle is complete and it looks good but the next day/a good amount of time later I notice a little more water has ended up in the bottom. I know it is pumping, the solenoid is working, air gap is clean, garbage disposal is draining good, that's why I leaned toward the timer. Is there anything I'm missing?

Check for a clogged discharge hose where it connects to the plumbing under the sink...this is the most common area for a clog. if no restriction is found, the discharge valve will need to be tested

10-yr old GE Profile dishwasher...lately there's been detergent left in the cup, and lots of items come out dirty...plastic, ceramic, etc. I've cleaned/rinsed the sprayer and filter, but it doesn't he

Check if the water is getting heated in the dishwasher. Most likely water temperature if not adeqaute will not fully use the detergent and cause dirty dishes. This could be caused by heater which is failing.

Check the pump and filter for blockages as the dirty water may be not draining properly. A mix of detergents is ok. Run a prewash with the unit empty and see if the water is still greasy

My dishwasher wont clean the dishes. The bottom rack gets kinda clean and the dishes on the top rack come out dirty and covered in film.

Check whether the top rack spray arm main hose sits firmly into the
machine. If there is a leak in this area water pressure may not develop.
Also check the water pump in the machine!

Water does not drain. dishes are not clean

Hello,
lets first take a look to ensur your drain isnt clogged. remove drain line from garbage disposal or sink drain and ensure its free of clogg. if that doesnt solve it look at the other end as hose leaves dishwasher to ensure its free there.

Dishes not clean enough. as if rinsing in dirty

If your dishwasher drains it's water to a garbage disposal, give the disposal a spin while the dishwasher is pumping out. Check around the bottom of the dishwasher to make sure something is not clogging the drain.

GE PDW9700 - The dishes do not get cleaned

Same as above problem: I have had this dishwasher for less than 4 years and the dishes as of about 2 years ago stopped getting cleaned. I use the recommended dish liquid and rinse and lightly clean the dishes before I put them in.
What a piece of junk!! gs

Sounds like you have an excessive build up of hard water (mainly calcium) in it. Clean it like this: Close the detergent cup cover. Run hot water at the sink to clear cold out of the pipes. Start the machine on pots and pans/added heat. Wait about 10 minutes and open the door. If the detergent cup cover flops open, it is in the main wash. If it is still closed, let it run a few more minutes, check cup cover again, keep dong this until the cover is open. Once it is open it will be in the main wash (the longest cycle) and at that time put in about 2 cupfulls of Tang orange drink in the bottom of the tub. Tang is very high in citric acid and will clean the calcium and other hard water deposits from the tub, pump, spray arms, ect... Make sure your hot water is HOT (130 is great) and use Cascade Complete powdered detergent from now on. Should take care of it... Repeat every 6 months to keep it clean.

GE dishwasher GSD2200G00WW dishes not clean

Make sure the spray arm is actually rotating and the jets aren't clogged. You should be able to hear the arm rotating when the dishwasher is operating.

Otherwise, perhaps the pump is plugged or not working and the water isn't "jetting"

Dirty dishwasher

there is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishes. the dishes look dirty because your water has a lot of calcium and magnesium in it making them appear cloudy or dirty. the dishwasher filter reduces those minerals and my dishes look perfect now. no more dirty and grimy looking dishes. i also dont waste time washing them by hand before and after the dishwasher. hahaha you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. use code DFMTEN and you will get 10% off. it fits right under your sink and is very affordable. you will be glad you bought this product. thanks
