Dishwasher not filling

Kenmore dishwasher model 665-16769000 not filling. During fill cycle the fill solenoid gets voltage but it's only 5 volts. Is it supposed to be 120 volts? Thanks. Hate to replace the fill solenoid and it's not the problem.

Yes you should have 120v to the valve so the problem is elsewhere. Possibly the control isn't sending the proper voltage but you will need a tech to verify as this board is about $130

That is a discharging problem. What you can try initially is turn it off and unplug the power cable for about 2-3 hours to release any static charges. Then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, there's an internal electronics component that needs to be check. Discharging is a capacitor problem. There might a burned or bulged capacitor that needs to be replaced.

Water fill solenoid receives only 10 volts on normal cycle-not enough juice to open solenoid. Dishwasher does not fill. Dishwasher works fine on short cycle because on that setting the control panel...

Kenmore 17621 model--wife says it's making all the right noises, but no water entering.removed bottom panel-no filter visible.obstruction in water supply line is my guess.

Hi,
Open the door and look for the water level float in the bottom of the dishwasher.
Make sure there is nothing stuck under the float holding it in the up position.
Wiggle the float up and down to make sure it can move freely and then run the dishwasher again to see if it fills with water.
If the float is not stuck up then chances are you will need to replace the water inlet valve.
If you know how to use a volt meter you could check to see if voltage is at the valve during the fill cycle. If there is voltage to the valve but you are not getting any water then you know the water inlet valve is bad for sure.
I find that 90% of the time I need to replace the water valve on dishwasher that no longer fill with water and the other 10% of the time I find the water float is stuck.

My dishwasher will drain but will not fill up with water ?

Hello there
Specific symptoms include: Little or no water enters the tub . To find the cause, first check to be sure the water is ON.

always “zero” the ohmmeter before making any continuity checks on dishwasher components. . When making continuity checks with the volt/ohmmeter, always turn the electricity OFF at the circuit breaker panel. Live voltage checks will damage the meter movement. With the water ON, remove the lower panel. Place a towel or shallow container on floor to absorb water. Loosen the nut that secures the dishwasher water tubing to the inlet port of the water inlet valve. If water collects immediately in the towel or container, it can safely be assumed that the water pressure is adequate and the plumbing system is not clogged . If little or no water collects in the container, the water line gate valve could be defective or there is a problem in the plumbing system.
Turn the water OFF. Remove the lower panel. Loosen and remove nut that attaches water tubing to water inlet valve inlet port. With tubing removed, check for corrosion and debris that has accumulated inside the tubing and inlet valve inlet port. . Turn the water supply ON. Select a cycle on the timer dial where the dishwasher starts to fill with water. If it starts to fill with water — you fixed it. The problem was corrosion inside the water tubing or inlet valve water inlet port. If the dishwasher still does not fill with water, an additional electrical check will have to be made.Next, test for electrical power to the water inlet valve from the dishwasher timer assembly. Using the volt/ohmmeter, set the meter on the 150-volt scale and attach the two test leads of the volt/ohmmeter to the two terminals of the water inlet valve solenoid coil to be checked. Turn the water ON. With the test leads attached to the solenoid terminals, select a cycle on the dishwasher timer dial where the dishwasher starts to fill with water. Push in or pull out the timer dial. You should get a voltage reading of 110-125 volts A/C on the volt/ohmmeter scale. If you get a reading, this would indicate that electricity is available from the dishwasher timer assembly to the water inlet valve. However, the absence of water flow means the water inlet valve is defective

This isn't a solution but rather a comment, if the problem is happening only during the fill, then it could be the water inlet valve. Perhaps there is a soliniod going in the valve, watch to see if the fill cycle starts to dimminish over time. Does the sound come anytime the washer fills, ie: rinse cycle? if so I would replace the valve, probably 50 dollars would get you a new one and you can do it yourself to save a little more cash. good luck.

No water in unit

My dishwasher will not fill with water: This is often the fill valve. You can test the fill valve coil for continuity with a ohm meter, no needle movement = bad fill valve. You can also test the fill valve for 120 volts at the fill valve with a volt meter, power there and no fill = bad fill valve. No 120 volts there, you will have to trace power back to find the trouble maker. Test things like the float and float switch, wires and timer. Fill valves are very bad for working once or twice and then quitting, if your dishwasher fills the first and second fill cycles and then no more water through the rest of the cycle, replace the fill valve. You will need to remove the access panels to get at the fill valve. Dishwasher fill valves also have a screen built into the valve entrance, this can also get all clogged up and need to be cleaned.

Motor has gone out..just like mine...Make sure u have voltage going to the motor, (disconnect the plug from the motor) and use an electric meter to make sure you have voltage going to the motor. If so the motor has either gone out or has been blocked by something! If no noise except clicking then motor has gone out. Looking at about $150 for motor.
