It could be caused by a few things :
1) The CD was not burned correctly or did not complete. Try using an original CD and see if it works
2) Some MP3s when downloaded from online sources have a digital protection which prevents it from playing once burned into a CD.
3) The brand of CDRs you are using are not good. Try another brand
If all the above do not fix it, I recommend that you send the unit for warranty or repair. The optical laser could have been damaged.
You need a new laser or laser mechanism. You can order one online no problem. The part number is: Sony KSS 213Q. make sure there is a Q at the end of it because sony makes a lot of different laser types and the one inside the Stanton C.324 is the Q. Yes the C.324 has Sony guts. You might also want to look into ordering a RF Signal Processor Chip. the part number is: CXA 2581N. Once again make sure the part number ends with a N. This part you might have a little more trouble finding online but it is possible. The laser mechanism you can find on Ebay for about 20$ to 30$ and if you order it from stanton magnetics it will run you about 200$. The signal processor I bought the other day from a Sony parts Dealer in my home town for 20$. Im having an Electronics Repair place do it for very cheap. If you send your stanton c.324 to stanton magnetics you will end up paying more than the turntable is worth brand new unless you have valid warranty still on it.
Dust and dirt could cause this by getting in the gear rack that moves the read head.
Make sure no one has smoked cigarettes around this as that is devastating to the optics in the unit.
An internal cleaning is probably in order and there are very fragile elements within the unit. I would recommend taking it to a shop specializing in CD repairs unless you are really capable.
I assume you have verified that the power is good to the unit.
Try tilting the turntable so that that slot is facing the floor then HOLD and PRESS eject until it ejects, it should come out, i had the same problem with my c324s
The first step is to clean the lens of the player using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that failes to resolve the problem, it is likely that the optics are starting to fail and need to be replaced.
Please clean the lens and update this with the results.
