Did you happen to get a cd with thyat icecam? if so, then you need to uninstall it, unplug it from your mac book. and using the cd driver, run the installation again and plug it back into your mac book. another thing that you might want to do is to run up manually for your mac book. sometimes the drivers for the usb ports need to be updated.
i think it's a its a driver problem and yeah it's worked on 10.3.9 you need a perfact driver on web site don't be borther download older ver of drvier it's worked.

you need to set the audio settings for the microphone.
you need to go into sound options and configure the volume settings for the micrphone
